Chapter 6

Chapter 6: Tris POV

As we walk back from breakfast, I start to feel a sharp pain in my backbone. I try to hide it, but I must wince because Tobias looks at me protectively.

"Tris, are you okay?" He says. I swear I can't keep anything from him.

"I'm fine!" I answer, almost too quickly. Obviously he doesn't believe me because he shoots a quizzical look my way. He lets it slide though and I silently thank him for that. I don't like him being too worried about me. The rest of our walk is silent.

Once we reach the door, we see a note attached with clear tape.

Tris and Four,
Since it looks like we might be staying here for quite awhile, they have decided to give us our own apartments instead of keeping us in this temporary room. Come meet me at room 475 on floor 11 and I will give you the keys to your room. See you soon!
Zeke

Tobias and I both look at each other until he says what we're both thinking, "Wonder why they just decide this now. We've been here for almost a year." I shrug.

We both turn around and head back for the elevator. This will be very interesting considering we have never been anywhere higher than the fifth floor since most of the upper floors consist of apartments and shops.

The elevators here are really fancy and high-tech. They're kind of confusing, especially for someone like me. Good thing I have Mr. Computer Genius, Tobias, right here with me. He's such a computer nerd.

"I prefer the term, highly proficient sagacious computer geek," he says. I guess I said that out loud.

"What the heck does that even mean?! And aren't a nerd and a geek the same thing?" I say.

"You did not just.....Please tell me you didn't......," he face palms. "Did you really just say that?!" Uh oh, here he goes again. "THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NERD AND A GEEK!"

"There is? Really?"

"YES! THERE REALLY IS!" He looks pretty flustered. "First off, a nerd is that one kid with tape in the middle of his circle-shaped glasses because they are broken because he got tripped in the hallway at school and they fell and someone stepped on them because people take advantage of his frail-ness and he always wears his pants way too high and his nose is always in a book and can never get a girlfriend and studies calculus on the weekends for fun. On the other hand, a geek is that super sexy, strong dude that can fix computers like nobody's business. He's that classy looking dude that you always want to be around. Does that make sense?"

"Uhhhh.........sure?" I am so confused.

Finally we make it to the eleventh floor. That was the longest elevator ride of my life. We begin looking for room 475.

"471, 472, 473, 474....Oh here it is. Room 475!" I say. Tobias knocks on the door once then twice then once again, so Zeke knows its him. The door opens revealing Shauna.

"Hey guys!" she says. She can tell we're surprised to see her because she continues," Zeke is in the kitchen, come on in!" We do as instructed and sure enough Zeke's in the kitchen, chowing down on an assortment of food.

"What's up guys?" He says, barely audible through his mouth full of junk. Leave it to Zeke to totally forget about the keys.

"Um Zeke.....the keys?" I say.

"OH YEAH!" He answers jumping up and running to get them, I assume. About a minute later, he comes running back, keys jingling in his hands. "Here they are!" I take them from him.

"Thanks," Tobias and I say as we start to walk out.

"Mind if we come with?" Shauna asks.

"No, not at all!" It turns out that we are in room 476, so we are next-door-neighbors. 24/7 with Zeke, with only a wall to separate us. Fun. Tobias turns the key and we both walk into our extremely expensive-looking apartment and our jaws drop.

"Wow." We say at the same time. I look over at Shauna and Zeke who are holding hands and looking super cute. This is when I notice something sparkly coming from Shauna's hand.

"Shauna, is that a ring on your finger?"

Zeke answers for her," Yes it is, we're engaged!" They both smile.

"Oh my gosh, that's great!" We all start celebrating and then I feel it again, the sharp pain in my back. This time I know I can't hide it from Tobias. I fall to the floor and scream out in pain. What is going on?

"TRIS!" Tobias yells as he scoops me up and starts to run. This is the last thing I remember before I black out.
