------Shujin Academy: Class 2-D------

Exams never felt long and nerve-wracking like this time compared to mid-terms, that was especially since their summer celebration mostly depended on the group's scores. Days flew by quickly as the teenagers were preparing themselves fully by pushing themselves to study for the exams in July, and surprisingly even Ryuji sat down and studied along with Ren which was very out of character for him. On the first day they had a Japanese and history exam, then biology and social studies on the second day, and lastly math and English on the third day, marking the end of the finals. Although it was the final day, the classroom of 2-D was killingly silent for any voice to be heard except for the ticking clock and the scribbling pens on the papers. Ms. Kawakami slightly lowered the book she was holding to better observe the students in order to make sure that no one will even attempt to do something stupid as cheating. Yet, most of the students had troubled and struggling looks on their faces, clearly not knowing exactly how they should answer the remaining question, the ticking sound of the clock piercing through their ears like swords.

What saved them from that living hell was the ringing of the bell that echoed in every corner of the school's hallways.

"OK, time's up!" Ms. Kawakami stood up.

That sentence was like the mantra that allowed the students to finally sigh in relief as if they were holding back their breaths the entire time. Happiness was drawn on their faces with the exception of those who knew very well that they screwed up badly... but Ren Amamiya was never one of them.

"So you did pretty well with this one, yeah?" Morgana whispered quietly from inside the desk.

"Maybe." Ren replied.

"Now for the long-awaited..." Morgana closed his eyes in happiness.

Looking at his own reflection at the window, Ren could hardly maintain a smile from creeping its way on his lips as his grey eyes glimmered with anticipation beyond the lenses of his black-framed glasses. He'd be lying so hard if he said that he wasn't excited to go to the festival with his friends, for having a pleasant time while observing some gorgeous colorful explosions never seemed like a bad idea at all.
