Nathan
I was looking around me. The noise must have come from somewhere. Suddenly, I heard footsteps.
Turning around, I saw a black creature slowly moving towards me. I tensed up. I took small steps backwards and stretched my hand out.
"Please, don't attack," I whispered.
The creature approached me slowly. It finally back me into a cold, stone wall.
"Uh... hi," I fearfully said.
The creature growled back. I think the creature was going to attack. I still had my arm stretched out. I turned my head to the ground, accepting my fate. However, the creature didn't attack. After a couple of minutes, I felt something scaly and cold touched. I hesitated and raised my head. The creature had his head in my hand. He shook his head and ran off to the mountains.I looked up to the three mountains spikes and saw the dragon and three others take off heading west. Alone in the Viking village, I was in shock and disbelief. I knew I was starting to have doubts whether or not my family history was real or a fantasy someone came up with one day. However, now, I know the truth.
With that experience over, I decided to head back home. Anyway, Sargent Walsh is probably looking for me.Northern Ireland is now out of British control but it never rejoined the rest of Ireland. The country is controlled by Governor Johnson and if you believed in this Viking stuff, it's basically classed as treason. See the Governor has a god complex, meaning he thinks he controls everything. People aren't allowed to practice any other religion or - again - it's treason. If anyone has seen Star Wars, it's basically the treatment the Empire thought was right. No one covers this side of the country as they are scared of the consequences. That is until now.
I've been alone since I was 10, all because of the government here. My dad, Lee Henderson was forced to join the navy and never came back. The army, airforce and navy is a one way trip - once you're in, you can never leave. My mum, Sophie Henderson... she was a different story. She was the Haddock descendant and she taught me everything about my family history. Only the governor found out and took her away on account of treason. That was 6 years ago.
Here, you have to be careful who you can trust. Luckily my uncle on my dad's side works in the police - Sargent Mark Walsh. He keeps things rather fomal, and doesn't allow any fun.The old boat docked at Halloway Peir, where my uncle was waiting for me. The tall figure had his arms crossed and a frown painted across his face.
"Where have you been?" he asked already trying to assert his power.
"Just wanted to go on a boat ride, uncle Mark. Nothing important," I lied looking up into his green eyes. I feared if Mark knew why I was going out I'd get arrested. I never said I trusted him.
I stood up out of the boat and started to walk home. Mark's hand stopped me before I walked past.
"Nathan, I want a honest answer. Where were you?"
"And I told you. I was just out in the open ocean on a boat ride."
Mark sighed. "You lie just like your father."
I adjusted my self so his hand was off my shoulder.
"Do you know why I do this?" he asked
"Because you have to. You're my only living relative."
"Yes and no. I do this to keep you safe and out of trouble with the Government. I know what they're capable of and I don't want you to experience that."
"Okay. Could I just go home now? I've got something I need to think about."
"Do you want a ride?"
"No thanks. I think I'll walk."I brushed his arm as I walked past him and onto the pavement. Glancing back, I spotted Mark talking to the peir manager. He was probably wondering where I was. I knew I lied about a lot of thinkg but I didn't lie about one thing. I had a lot to think about.
