The song plays on the radio over and over a few times and everyone looks restless. Dinah sighs and crosses her arms, "I love this song, but it would be nice for a bit of a change." She looks over to Michael and I. We had settled on the couch to watch the fight between Evie and Gallant.
"See, I knew you'd come around." Coco scoffs. "I told you this shit would get old."
Michael chuckles, "Maybe Rose can provide you with some entertainment? It may not be much, but a change of pace, perhaps." Michael looks around the room, smirking.
"What do you mean?" Coco shakes her head a bit.
"Well, believe it or not, Rose is a rather good singer."
I shake my head, "only you think that."
"Well, that's because you haven't sung for anyone else." Michael wraps an arm around me. "Come on. I'm sure these ladies would love it."
Mallory nods, "yeah, I mean it has to be better than listening to the same some over and over again."
I smile over to Michael and kiss him softly.
"Wait a minute, baby.
stay with me a while.
Said you'd give me light.
But you never told me about the fire."I stand up, Michael waiting until the last moment he can to let go of my hand, as I walk over to where Stevie had sung for us a few years prior.
"Drowning in the sea of love.
Where everyone would love to drown.
But now it's gone
It doesn't matter what for.
When you build your house.
Then call me home."I dance around a bit, spinning around, swaying a bit as well, before Michael comes up to me, taking my hand and placing a hand on the small of my back. I place a hand on his shoulder as the two of us dance.
"And he was just like
A great dark wing
Within the wings of a storm.
I think I had met my match.
He was singing
And undoing
And undoing
Ooh, the laces
Undoing the laces."Michael and I dance a bit, until we get to the end of the sound.
"All I ever wanted
Was to know that you were dreaming
There's a heartbeat
And it never really died
Never really died
Won't you swallow your pride?
All I ever wanted."
(Sara by Fleetwood Mac)As I reach the end of the song, Michael dips me. I can feel my hair brush the ground before he brings me back up the women begin to clap. Dinah more excitedly than Coco, who is staring at me rather jealousy. Mallory just smiles as she claps. Dinah is almost jumping up and down, "that was amazing." She smiles, "had this whole apocalypse never of happened I would have asked you to sing on my show."
Coco scoffs, "it was a sub par performance of a song from the 70s. Who cares."
Dinah looks over to Coco, "you're just jealous that you don't have an actual talent. Other than blogging and posting pictures onto Instagram."
Michael takes a deep breath, smiling over to Dinah, "you know, Rose and I actually knew Stevie."
"Did you?" Dinah looks over to me.
I shake my head a bit, "we weren't close or anything."
"Still, to know Stevie Nicks." Dinah shakes her head, "wow."
"Is that how you two met?" Coco clears her throat, "you don't expect us to believe that you two were this close after working together for just a few months before everything went south."
"No," Michael shakes his head, "we met at school actually. Rose was my tutor for a short period."
"Oh, well, isn't that romantic." Dinah smiles.
"You could say that." Michael smiles over to me. "Her eyes caught and locked on me."
"Tutor and student?" Coco chuckles, "sounds more like a porn than romance to me."
I turn to Coco, "Tell me something?" I step toward her, "What is it that truly scares you, Coco? The fact that you may be left here to die or the thought of dying alone?"
"I won't be alone, I'll have Mallory."
"But not forever." I shake my head, "and your relationship with Mallory isn't the kind of relationship you want."
"What are you talking about?"
I shrug my shoulders, "maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me the only thing you really want, yet can't have, is Michael."
Coco scoffs, "from the rumors going around neither can you, sister."
I chuckle, "Michael may sway from time to time, but he always comes back to me. But what about you? You saved your hairdresser, his grandmother and your assistant from the end of the world. And the only one who even acts grateful is your assistant. We can just glance over the fact it's because she kind of has to." Coco tries to protest, "and one of the people who decides your fate... can see right through you."
