Michael and Mead leave me in the house to go to the men who brought Mead back. Once I am sure they're gone I work on getting out of the handcuff, I don't get out of the cuff, but I do break the wooden chair, which is a start. I have to figure out how to get Michael to focus on finding me and not Cordelia and then others. I remember Cordelia mentioned something about a cabin in the swamps. But I need to be able to get there without leading Michael right to them. I sigh, I need to learn Transmutation really fast. Another Wonder may help too. If I can convince Michael I'm the next Supreme I can get him to shift his focus to me. Honestly, he'll be torn about finding and killing me. But that's a hope.
I pace around the kitchen for a few minutes before taking a deep breath, "come on, you can do this." I close my eyes and focus all my energy on moving. But it does nothing. I sigh again, shaking my head, I just told Mallory she couldn't force a Wonder and here I am doing the same thing. I take a deep breath and focus, taking slow deep breaths imagining where I want to go in the house. When I open my eyes I am in the living room. Now I need to make it look effortless. I try again with my eyes open and it takes a little while but I get it.
I look around the house and try to figure out another Wonder I could pass. I notice Mead has curtains hanging over the door to her back yard and get an idea. I look around the kitchen and find a candle. I stand on the other side of the room and try to light the candle on fire. It doesn't take me too many tries before I get the hang of it. Just in time too, before I hear the car pull into the driveway. I sit on the counter and wait for Michael and Mead to come in.
"Good news Rose, I have a new plan." Michael rounds the corner and when he sees that I'm not in the chair the smile fades from his face, "If you broke free why didn't you leave?"
I smile, "Because there was something I felt you should know."
"What is that?"
I walk over to Michael and wrap my arms around his neck, inching closer to him, "I'm the next Supreme." I whisper.
"What?" Michael scoffs as he pulls away from me. He chuckles and shakes his head, "no, no that's not possible."
"Think about it, Michael. Who taught you everything you needed to know to pass the test of the seven wonders?"
"No, no, no. You can't... you can't manipulate weather."
I laugh, "Michael, that isn't a wonder. It's something Warlocks do to test their power levels."
"I still don't believe you."
I flash to the other side of the kitchen. "Oh, don't you?" I flash behind Michael and push him forward, reaching out my hand and summon a knife, holding it up to Michael as he turns. "Believe me now?"
Michael gasps, "Rose..." he smiles, "this is amazing. With our powers together we will be unstoppable. We will rule the world."
"No, Michael." I step back. "If you try to end the world, I will stop you. I will end you. But you don't have to do this. You can be with me, we can have a normal peaceful life." I glance over to the curtains, lighting them on fire before flashing out of the house. I bounce around to a few places before I flash to the cabin in the swamp. When I get there I collapse on the floor, exhausted.
"Rose!" I hear Myrtle. I look up and see Myrtle holding Cordelia up, "Delia, it's Rose, she's here."
Cordelia and I do our best to crawl to one another. I cry as Cordelia hugs me. "I'm sorry, I couldn't save them."
"Sh..." Cordelia strokes my hair, "It's okay. It's okay. I'm just happy you're okay."
Cordelia and I try to stand up but I gasp as I do, the pain from my ankle finally hitting me. "He broke my ankle." I gesture down to my ankle as I look up to Cordelia.
"Mallory." Cordelia looks around. Mallory walks over to me and kneels next to me, placing her hands over my ankle. Slowing her breathing down and closing her eyes. Healing my ankle, I watch as the bruise and swelling fade and I stand, with the help of Mallory, with no pain.
