Hey there, sorry I haven't uploaded recently...well okay for two days, but that's considering too long since this is winter break. x) Christmas is coming up :) And if you don't celebrate Christmas, then that's okay too. Happy Hannukah! Happy Quanza! Happy Holidays! :D
I've gotten a few comments/ questions about Alex being blind.
She's able to go around without one of those walking sticks or without a guide dog because she's always near someone. She's adapted enough that she doesn't need one. Alex actually hates using things that showthat she's blind.... Meh, I'll let her talk to herself about being blind.
Btw, I'm learning how to play guitar (teaching myself) so this chapter was kind of inspired by that.
Ps, go check out out the music video on the right side ----->

Chapter 7 - A Midwinter's Night Dream
Once I had fallen asleep, I had the most horrible dreams.
Darkness.
My dad's voice telling me to go to sleep.
But I didn't sleep.
I could sense something was wrong.
I had crept downstairs.
I heard my parents voices.
A crash.
I cringed.
A slam of the door.
I tossed and turned in my sleep, not wanting to dream the other dreams.
My dream ended there.
A soft melody floated through the crack of my window.
It was so soothing, so comfortable, so familiar.
Last night, I dreamed happy dreams for once.
***********
December 16, skip ahead 2 days.
I woke up and followed my regular morning routine.
I grabbed my schoolbag and went downstairs to the kitchen.
"Mom?"
"Over here, honey." she called from the living room.
I walked on over to her. "Where's Lauren?"
"Oh, she's already at Alison's house."
"Oh?"
"Lauren seems really fond of those kids. Besides, I need to go run some...errands."
I didn't know why, but I had a strange gut feeling that my mom was...lying to me. That was only the second time she lied. I knew. My mom never lied, she was really honest. It made me sad that she had lied to my face.
"I'm going to school." I turned to the fridge, grabbed a sandwich that I had made last night and headed for the door, donning all my winter clothes. I left without another word.
To my surprise, Luke was waiting. No, actually it didn't surprise me, I had sensed his minty smell from the door.
"Oh hi Luke," I said grumpily.
"What's wrong?" he asked concerned.
I didn't respond and kept walking. It was really chilly outside today and I regreted not wearing more layers and I shivered involuntarily. Before I knew it, I felt something wrap around me.
