{That night I slept, never once did I let go of Luke. There, for a moment in time, we forgot about the world. We forgot about all our troubles.
For now, I slept with a peacefulness that I had never felt before.
This had been the best Christmas slash Birthday I'd only ever had.}

Alex woke up to the sound of her curtain rustling and the cold draft that made her shiver. She spread herself on her bed, a feeling of longing for the warm body that had slept beside her.
Luke.
There was a knock at her door.
Alex got up and went to the window to close it. As she shuffled to the window she called out, "Come in!"
"Hey honey, we have to go to the hospital." Her mom seemed somewhat...happy?
"Okay...?" Her mom shut the door behind her and Alex quickly got dressed. Grabbing her scarf, Alex hurried down the wooden stairs. Lauren tugged Alex towards the car.
Inside the car, Lauren whispered to Alex, "I have a BIG secret for you. You can't tell anyyonee, not even moommyy, kaaay?"
"Okay," Alex whispered back.
"You know Connor, riight? He told me he loves me."
Alex patted Lauren's head, "Aw, isn't that cute."
"And he made me a pwetty bracelet!" Lauren placed it in Alex's hand and Alex felt the cool glass beads. Kids were so cute!
Alex suddenly remember Lily and practically ran out of the car, receiving many angry honks from the cars that she didn't not see.
"Where's Lily?" Alex asked the nurse in a hurried voice.
The nurse had hesitated, "I'm sorry Alex, Lily's condition is unstable. You can't go to her now."
"But I must! I need to!" Alex was frantic now. Lily was going to die soon.
Alex heard hurried, yet faltering footsteps and a gasp came from the nurse's mouth.
"Lily you need to..." But the nurse didn't finish what she was going to say.because she was interrupted by sobbing and fierce voice.
"Please Nurse Joy, let me speak to Alex. I know she knows I'm dyi..." Lily stopped abruptly and the nurse let out another startled gasp in which Alex presumed that Lily was growing weary. The nurse quickly found a wheelchair and placed Lily in it.
"Lily..." Alex was crying now. "Dear Lily..."
They were now running back to Lily's room in which they laid her down on her bed.
Lily took Alex's hand and placed it over her heart. "You feel that? I only have a few heartbeat left to beat. Alex, thank you for being my guardian angel...." Lily got up slightly and kissed Alex's cheek. "Please don't forget me..." Lily's hand slowly slipped away as she took her last breaths. "Thankyou."
Alex was sobbing now, never had she felt this sad.
The nurse placed a letter in Alex's hand. "She wrote this for you."
Suddenly the door burst open and Alex's mom let out a sigh, "There you are Alex, we have an appointment."
"I can't right now mom. I really...."
"You have no choice, let's go," A few doctors or was it nurses? Grabbed Alex and pushed her out of the door. She dropped the letter.
Alex heard Luke's voice, "Alex?"
"Luke! Help me!" Alex cried out.
They pushed Alex through the doors and she fell into a deep slumber.
