Chapter 4
Luke's P.O.V.
"Oh?" she raised an eyebrow.
I grinned, "You'll see."
I helped Alex find a good seat before briskly walking to backstage.
There were a few acts before us, and they were really good. What could you say? Freeview Academy was only for the best students with averages of at least an 88% and majored in an art or sport. As the head quarterback of our school's football team, everyone misjudged me as the typical, arrogant, jerk of a player. It wasn't my fault that I had an older brother who thought he was better than everyone. I clenched my fist and gritted my teeth. Derek, my older brother, had been a good brother to me, but my mom thought he was a bad influence. He always went out partying, drank, smoke and went from girl to girl as if they were just one-time books. Once you open and read them, you just leave and forget them after you're done reading. But I knew he was a good person. Although he skipped, he did well in school, played in all the sports teams...
I remember one time quite distinctly. I was 13, he was 17. Chelsea and Connor were just a few weeks old. They were crying and crying, mom and dad didn't know what to do and they went to go get some other things that might calm them down. Derek had walked into the room with his acoustic guitar and started to sing to them. It was the greatest thing I ever heard. The twins stopped crying and started gurgling contently before drifting off into deep slumber.
But Derek wasn't here anymore. After getting into an accident, and getting in major trouble, he decided to move and go to a university a couple states away.
My train of thought got interrupted when I got a pat on the back, one of my teammates, Pat, said, "Come on Luke, it's show time!"
I took a deep breath. This sure was going to be embarrassing. But it seemed that whatever we did, embarrassing or not made the girls go crazy.
I got a hard shove and growled at the person, "Watch where you're going!"
*************************
The person turned around. It was Jacob. The tall-dark type that some girls swooned for. He was the complete opposite of Luke. Luke with his light brown hair and green eyes, Jacob with his black hair and blue eyes. Their appearances weren't the only thing completely different. Luke was popular, while Jacob never really seemed to make any acquaintances. There was even a rumour going around the Jacob was caught in possession of trafficking drugs.
Jacob's P.O.V.
I don't know what made me resent him. Luke I mean. He had perfect grades, great looks, could get any girl. He could have anything he wanted. He was so lucky to have family...
Wait, why am I being so envious of him?
He's just a big, self-centered jerk.
There were rumours that Luke was dating a girl with red hair and blue eyes. A girl that didn't seem to be fazed by what she saw, no matter how strange or awkward it might have been.
I walked outside to my motorcycle and ditched school. No way was I going to this dumb so called "talent" show.
Alex's P.O.V.
I took a seat and waited for the next act to start. The audience was hushed immediately when the MC's announced, "UP NEXT! FREEVIEW ACADEMY'S OWN FOOTBALL TEAM PERFORMING A MUSICAL CALLED, "HEY YOU OVERTHERE" "
