The boy in Lopra had been found, so the pack stood down and returned to their search for Mari, heading further afield they hoped to catch her scent, where she thought they would not go.
Edward was getting weaker by the day, he had refused nectar for a human 2 weeks now. Carlisle was doing his best to convince him to drink. But Edward couldn't stop blaming himself. He knew Renesmee was going to be well cared for with Jacob, he saw no reason to drag out his existence without Mari or Bella any longer then necessary, he had no strength in him now to even travel to the Volturi to asked to be damned.
He'd given up.
He now drifted in and out of his conscious mind. Not knowing which time he was in, it all became one. There laid on that exact bed Bella had moons ago, he too was fading away.
Esme comforted Renesmee as she sat by his bedside stoking his hair.
"Don't leave me Dad..." She pleaded for the 1000th time.
All except them and Carlisle were out searching....for anything

They all ran, desperate for any sign. Suddenly Alice stopped. A vision. Immediately Jasper knew catching her as she sank to her knees in the damp darkness of the Garmut Valley, miles from anywhere.
"Alice!" Jasper called out.
All heard and went to where she knelt staring into the dark..in hope this was the news they wanted and not what they had dread.
After a few moments she spoke.
"She's been here......recently....I see a cave...by a stream...she's alone...she's crying.....south!" With that the rest were off..heading south as fast as they could. They spread out covering more area.
Back in Grangefield, Carlisle and Esme glanced at one another. They had heard.
"She's there!" Esme said aloud.
Renesmee looked back at her grandparents.."what?"
"Alice has seen!" Carlisle confirmed.
"What?...they've found her?" The fragile younger female stood now facing them.
"Not yet..they are looking!" Carlisle remained stone faced.
"But if Alice has seen then it's good news....isn't it? Or you would have felt it? Right?" Renesmee found some inner hope.
"We would have felt if she had....this is indeed good news." Esme blinked away her tear filled eyes.
"Dad! .... Dad!....Alice has seen her!.. Dad, please hold on!!!" Renesmee held his face in her hands pleading him to hear her.
"Is there anything you can do Grandda? Please help him!" She turned now to beg them to save him.
"Only a mate can save their immortal state. He needs her venom. Once they chose they are the only ones who can help. He has chosen Mari."
"Dad! You have to hear me....Shes coming Dad!...Mari is coming..."

"That's it!" Called Rosalea pointing to a small river up ahead. Within seconds everyone was there. Wolves and Vampires combined.
"Mari!!..."Alice called out. "MARI!!!"
A small crack of a branch whipped their heads to their right. There stood Mari ........Alone.

"You have to come...Edward needs you!" Emmett said.
"There's no time...read our minds as we run!" Alice said urgently.
"Edward? But I thought....." Mari saw the first few images flooding from their minds.
The Wolves howls echoed through the darkness of the valley.

Even by Vampire speed it took a good human hour to run home. They had found her at the furthest point they had searched yet. Now they just needed her home.

Renesmee never left her Dads side, but Esme and Carlisle greeted them at the door. They were all exhausted and had used up a lot of energy to run home.
Esme pulled her into a hug. "Thank You!"
Carlisle explained what state Edward was in...he'd heard of this happening only in folk law and wasn't sure if it was too late..but he knew he needed Mari..and Now!
Leading her in ... Mari was terrified. At first she saw Renesmee at a bedside. Seeing the pain in her eyes as she turned to see her. She then saw Edward..Grey and Gaunt...painfully thin, he didn't look like her Edward at all.
"He needs your venom...please save him Mari!" Renesmee held out her warm hand as tears streamed down her face.
Mari approached the medical type bed slowly..as Edwards soulless cavity came more in view tears stung her own eyes.
Reaching his side she reached out her hand to touch his face...this wasn't the Edward she knew....he'd given up...on death...for her.
"Please Mari!!! PLEASE?????" Renesmee screamed.
"Esme...take her out the room!!" Carlisle ordered
"Nooo...I'm not leaving him!" she protested sounding just like Bella for a moment.
"She doesn't need to see this....take her out!" Carlisle ordered again. Emmett picked her up in one foul Swoop and carried her screaming from the room.
The rest followed leaving only Carlisle and Mari standing each side of Edwards bed.
