"WHAT?!" Edward face remained in shock.
"Indeed...you CAN have children...there was some question of it back when all the child immortals were destroyed, to save the secret code of immortality. But it was deemed to be just myth as no new immortal children were born. This now leads me to believe the immortals were now just scared into not procreating instead. This myth ...is most certainly...no longer a myth." Carlisle sat back in his chair.
"So if they....you know....and create life....." Jasper only said what they all were thinking.
"Indeed....This could be disastrous for us all." Carlisle nodded.
"Dude??? You two haven't?????...you know!!!" Emmett pried.
"No.....we haven't!" Edward said rubbing Mari's shoulder "NOT that it's any of your business!"
"Edward! He's only thinking of us all" Esme said calmly.
This was too much for Mari. "Sorry!!! Excuse me!" And she fled the room out through the kitchen patio doors and onto the veranda for some air.
Her sudden appearance stirred up the chickens ..causing them to cluck and flap about.
She felt Alice join her.
"I'm so sorry Mari...we didn't mean to upset you."
"Yeah...yeah....I know...I just needed some air....This is all such a mess..."
"Hey...it's a good job Edwards a traditional man huh?!" Alice made light of the situation.
Edward joined them "Um.....Alice..."
"Sorry.....just sayin!" She retreated inside again leaving them alone.
"Wow! What a night?" He said stepping up beside her. "I thought I'd heard it all in my lifespan..."
"Alice and Jasper were right though..we could have put everyone in an awful lot of danger..especially ourselves."
"I knew my virtue would be significant one day!"
"Edward this is serious!"
"I know it is..." He placed a hand on her shoulder and leaned in to kiss the side of her head. "We'll sort it hunny...I promise"

Carlisle now had to go away and figure out if any contraception would be effective on vampires. There certainly hadn't been before. Until such a time....they had to refrain...married or not.
Later that night Edward and Mari were laid upon Edwards bed in each other's arms....little had been said..what could they say??
"I don't to be psychic to know what you're thinking!" Edward said breaking the silence.
"Hmmm...well if I hadn't..." Mari started
"No! I'm not letting you go there...you have been the best thing in my life for years...I don't regret any of it...and neither should you." Edward pulled back from her slightly to look her in the eye.
"It's all what if's......course I don't regret meeting you..and I certainly don't regret saving you!...but..."
"...but nothing!....it's happened...we will deal with it, like Cullens do!"
"Not like Tyler's huh....."
"Tyler?? ...I never knew that? Why did I not know that?"
"You never asked?"
"No...I didn't did I?....what do you mean anyway...not like Tyler's?"
"Aww..nothing....just family stuff."
"Tell me about them....I'm just starting to realise...I know nothing about you..."
"What you wanna know?"
"Well let's start by what you meant?"
"I grew up in Texas...my mother and father fought like cat and dog, he got drunk, she yelled, he'd hit her, she go to bed crying..he'd be sorry...they'd make up....and so on...."
"I'm sorry...." He said softly pulling her close.
"When I was 16, my dad threw me out whilst on one of his drunken rages. He'd hit my mother so hard she was unconscious, so I tried to ring for help...he caught me and chucked me out there and then....pointed a gun at me and told me where to go. I was so scared he would kill her, so I went. I stayed with my best friend Sally's house, her parents were so different..they were warm, friendly and told me I could stay as long as I liked." A smile crossed her face as she talk about them.
"I called the state police and reported my father....they went round and found my mother in an awful state. He got arrested and shoved in Jail!.....I heard my mother recovered and divorced him...but I never saw them again."
"Aw Babe!" Edward kissed her forehead.
"I stayed with Sally till that night soon after graduation...we'd been to this awesome party at this fella's house who Sally adored. She got lucky, so I walked home alone....or I would've done...had I made it home... Mi...HE, bit me..and I joined his clan..promised me the world..."
"Hmmm...." Edward sounded peaceful
"And you know the rest...my family never fought for anything...expect to keep outta my dad's way. I had no siblings. He beat her so hard she couldn't have any more children."
"That's awful ... Never feeling safe"
"Being here is the safest I've felt in 10 years.. Your family are wonderful"
"I don't have much memory of my real family..but this one and now you are all I need right now and that's all that matters."
Smiling again she felt so happy being here.
"Till death us do part..." She said looking up into his eyes
"Seems that way doesn't it....."
"You're stuck with me now Edward Cullen...your whole life"
"What an intriguing idea....." He said planting a tender kiss upon her dull pink lips "...indeed..."
