Carlisle pulled a large bottle from his jacket pocket. And handed it to Edward. Edward shook it....tablets.
"You're giving us E's for Christmas!?" Edward laughed aloud.
"Those aren't E's Edward." Esme corrected.
"But...then" it hit him and Mari at the same time..
"You both need to take ONE each day"
"What? Are you serious?" Edwards mouth fell open. As did Mari's.
"Listen to me ...both of you...." Carlisle's tone turned deadly serious.
"This is vitally important...you must BOTH take these for it to be effective...one missed pill could be a disaster...it has immediate effect..but I can only make it last for 25 hours...so there is an hours overlap...please do NOT pass this or......well......do I make myself clear?"
"Hahaha....this is crazy?!" Edward ran his fingers through his hair wildly.
"Edward please take this seriously....you know the ramifications if this goes wrong!?" Esme took a pace closer.
"Of course i do...are you sure these...you know....work?" Did he trust Carlisle enough? Of course he did?!
"I've tested it a thousand times...it's 100% effective.....IF and only if you both take them."
"I .......I.....don't know what to say??" Edward shook the bottle again and then he looked to Mari. She looked scared like a small child.
Exhaling a quick breath that made a 'hhhh' sound, he wrapped his free arm around his Father. Carlisle patted his back in a gentleman kind of way.
Then he hugged his mother. "Happy Christmas Edward!" She smiled towards Mari. Who was now hugging Carlisle. "Thank you Carlisle!" She said into his ear. "You're welcome" he replied.
As Edward stood back, Mari hugged Esme. "Happy Christmas Hunny!" Esme smiled
"We trust you Edward." Carlisle said nodding with a smile.
"Well.......That makes our present seem so insignificant now?!" Edward gaffawed making them all laugh. "It's out on the veranda! Go take a look!" Edward gestured with his hand.

"How embarrassing was that?!!" Mari covered her face shyly when his parents went to take a look at the new swing seat that had bought them to replace the lounger they had broken." I feel like a teenager getting contraceptive advice from a parent!!"
"Effectively..that's what you just got!...but the outcome could be so different if not heeded!?" Edward shook the bottle in front of Mari.
"You know what this mean? Don't you?" He smiled
"What? You'd break your virtue?" She joked.
"Na! Something far more important then sex!" He pulled her close.
"There is something more important then sex??" She acted innocently.
"Right this moment????......nah!" They both laughed and seeing as they were stood under the mistletoe...it would be rude not to share a kiss..wouldn't it?

Mari had loved all her presents from Edward..she'd been thoroughly spoilt. They had all had a wonderful day. Renesmee loved the dress they had bought her to wear out to a meal for two they had arranged for her and Jacob.
They'd danced and sang way into the night.
As Edward fell over therefor losing To Jacob at 'twister' ...Mari suggested some fresh air to him.
"Let's go for a walk?!"
"Man! I hate losing!" Edward sulked as she dragged him out the front door.

Walking along the shore they held hands in the cold clear moonlit evening...
"Mmmmm.. I love this cold air...was getting too warm in there!" Mari said smiling up at him.
"Mmmm..Renesmee was starting to look tired, they'll probably be in bed when we get back....our bed!" He hissed.
"Chill out Daddy'o!..she knows the risks, they live together for gods sake!"
"Nah!! I'm just jealous!? Cos I can't take you there this evening!?" He swung their hands back and forward making them look about 17 and horny teenagers again.
"What about your virtue ...stud?"
"Oh my virtue is fine.....I just mean spooning...ya know?!"
"Hahahahaha!.....well you'll have to catch me first?!" And she zipped off into the seemingly dark night..which to vampires wasn't a problem as they had great night vision.
His watch beeped midnight, his final gift was due. And plunging his hand into his pocket, he smiled. Rather than pursuing her, he picked up a stick and another and quickly went to work arranging them onto the stones...As she returned to seek where he was, he held out his hand... "Let's climb!" He said she smiled and took his hand.

As they easily reached the top, the view was breathtaking...it looked like the sky met the cliff face seamlessly.
Walking to the edge she sniffed in the biting cold wind that blew against her face.
Wrapping his arms round her from behind he rest his chin on her shoulder. "I will never tire of views like this.." He spoke soft and she rest her head against his.
"Neither will I..."
"Thank you!"
"For what?"
"For my present...For not biting my daughter..." This caused her to snigger "...For coming back....For trusting me...For loving me....." He now held her waist and turned her back to face him "For giving me something to live for again."
"That's ok...it's my pleasure." And she kissed his lips. Then she remembered something.
"Hey that reminds me...I didn't get my last gift?" She wagged her finger at him.
Chuckling aloud Edward turned her back facing out into the stars, reached round either side and covered her eyes.
"Edward?" She said..forcing away a sudden rise in panic.
"Look down!" He said into her right ear.
"What?" She held out her hands either side confused.
"Hahaha...look down!" And he took away his hands and stepped back. Now...To me and you it would only be covered in a veil of darkness...but what her vampires eyes could see in amongst the stones was written 'MARRY ME'
Turning to Edward in shock she saw he was deadly serious.
Dropping to one knee on that cliff edge, he opened a small velvet box. "Marry me Mari?"

Back at the house the party was still in full swing...Alice took a sharp intake of breath. Jasper ran to her side as her knees buckled. "Alice!!!" Rosalea called out. Jacob hit the stereo turning it off..
"Alice?? What is it? What do you see?" Rosalea asked coming close to her...the room fell silent
Only one voice spoke out.. And it wasn't Alice's.
It was Renesmee's ...she'd seen it too.
"She said yes!"
