Knowing Kion could wake up any second, nobody went to sleep. Every Lion inside the tree just stood in a circle around the king and no single word was said, when all of the sudden Kion opened his eyes. He yawned. "What is going on here?" When she heard this Rani ran towards him as quick as she could. "Kion, you're awake. I've missed you so much." she said. "How long have I been asleep?" Kion asked. "You've been asleep since yesterday." Nirmala answered his question. "I've been asleep for that long. You all must have been worried I wouldn't wake up, weren't you?" To answer that question everybody nodded slightly. Kion looked outside, to see it was dark already. "You all must be tired. Go get some sleep, tomorrow we can catch up on what happened. Kion stood up and walked outside. "What are you going to do, Kion?" Rani asked. I'm just going for a walk. I'll be back in a few minutes.

"Do you both remember the plan?" Makucha asked. Two other leopards nodded in response. "We come from her front and distract her, so you can attack her from behind." Fahari said. "Lets go get her." Makucha said and Fahari and Jiona walked away.

Kiara was walking back towards the Pridelands, when she suddenly heard a twig snap. She looked around, but saw nothing, so she continued walking. A minute later she saw two leopards walking towards her. "Your majesty, what are you doing here all alone?" one of them asked. "I'm walking towards the Pridelands." Kiara answered. "And why are you doing that all on your own, there could be threats around, you know." the other one said. "I know, but the situation is a bit complicated. I'm going back from a visit at the tree of life after I've heard that my mate, Kovu, has gotten sick, and he needs help." she explained. Fahari noticed Makucha was ready to attack. "Sadly he won't get that help." he said. "Wha-" Kiara said, but she was cut off because Makucha pounced on her. "Makucha!" "So nice to see you, Kiara." "What do you want, Makucha?" Kiara asked. "What I want? Let me think what I want." Makucha went silent for a few seconds. "Oh, I know. I want you and your family dead!" he continued. "And everything is going exactly as planned so far. Kovu is dying because of his illness, and you tried to get back to the Pridelands because of it, but you will never reach him." Makucha got ready to struck Kiara with his claws. "Sleep tight little girl." he said. Before he could more he got pounced on, and he fell off of Kiara her body. "What the...! Who are you?" he asked. He then saw the face of his attacker. "No, not you!" he said, stunned by the reveal.

Kion walked towards the watering hole, thinking he would be alone there, but when he almost arrived there, there was someone else already there. From a litte distance, even in the dark, he recognised the animal sitting there. It was Fuli. Kion was thinking of walking away, so he could be alone, but before he got the chance Fuli turned around. "Kion, you're awake." "Hey Fuli. How were things without me?" "Nothing bad happened, but we were all worried, and then I'm not just talking about me and the Night Pride, but everyone at the Tree of Life was worried, especially when you started screaming." "The screaming..." Kion said "It just hurt so much. Luckily it is better now. Nirmala took good care of it, like she prommised." "But does this mean that your scar is healed now?" Fuli questioned. "I think so." Kion answered. "I'm glad that that is over now." Fuli said. "You said it." "I just don't want to lose you, because of what Scar did." "I won't go anywhere now Fuli." The two got closer to each other, and stayed like that till they fell asleep.

Kiara wasn't able to see who saved her from Makucha, but she was easily able to tell there were only two options when she heard a loud roar. It was either Vitani or Kion, but with Kion having been asleep when she left, it had to be Vitani. "Are you alright, Kiara?" Vitani asked her. "Yeah, thanks to you. Makucha is way to strong for me. Especially if he has Fahari and Jiona with him." "I noticed, but we should get back to the pridelands now. Kovu isn't getting any better. In fact, he's only getting worse." "Then lets go right now indeed."

"But how did you know Makucha would attack me?" Kiara asked after the two have been walking for a few minutes. "I was told by Jasiri that Janja was acting strange since you were gone, and one night Tazama came to me, saying that she saw Janja running away from the Pridelands. She followed him into the backlands, where Janja met Makucha. She eavesdropped them. It is Janja who got Kovu sick, and she also heard that Makucha would attack you. After Tazama told me I left to find you right away." "Asante, thanks for doing that."

Makucha landed far away from the two lionesses. "How did Vitani know that we would attack Kiara?! It must have been Janja who wasn't looking out enough when he was in the Pridelands. I knew I shouldn't have trusted him." "What are we going to do now, Makucha?" Fahari asked. "There is going to be a change of plans. We will go after Kion on our own. We don't need that foolish hyena." Makucha told him. "You want to go after Kion, while last time we fought against him he kicked our tails." Jiona said. "Yes, and do you want to know why this is a good idea?" "Yeah, I would love to know, cause I don't think it is." "Kion his scar is acting up again, which means he is weak right now. Last time we would have won if it wasn't for him joining the fight. This time we will fight without him, which means we will win. Understood." "Yes. Now that you are saying it like this it does sound like a good plan indeed. Lets do this."
