Kion got stunned, hearing Rani talk to him. "You promised me you wouldn't leave, but the first opportunity you get, you try to run away." She started crying. "Rani, give me a chance to explain." Kion said. "Explain what! That you promised something, but you take the first chance you get to break it!" She started screaming furiated.
From some distance the Night Pride heard Rani screaming. "Something is wrong with Rani, we better check it out." Surak said. They all ran towards the exit of the mountain pass.
"We can't have a good relationship if we can't even trust each other. Do you understand that." Rani said. "I do Rani, but do you understand that I can't even trust myself in the state I am at right now. I just don't want to hurt anyone, especially you." Kion started having tears in his eyes. "You really don't understand what I'm going through, do you?" he asked. "I do Kion, but believe me if I say that we can help." Kion got angry after hearing this. "You really don't care about my feelings, do you?!" he snapped. "I do Kion, but you can't just run away from your problems." Kion gave her a death glare. "Yes I can." Kion turned around and ran into the mountain pass, where he bumped into Baliyo. "Hey Kion, where are you going?" he asked "None of your business." Kion told Baliyo. Rani ran into the mountain pass too. "Don't let him run away!" she yelled at the Night Pride. The Night Pride didn't let Kion out. They all walked back towards the Tree Of Life. "You are all making a big mistake by having me stay!" Kion yelled at the others. Kion and Rani got back to sleeping, and the Night Pride promised to make sure Kion wouldn't escape.
A new day started, and Kion woke up earlier than Rani. He walked out of the Tree of Life. Baliyo ran towards him. "Where are you going?" he asked. "I'm just getting a drink at the watering hole." Kion answered. Baliyo let Kion go, but he did follow him from some distance. Kion did go to the watering hole, but he didn't go there to get a drink. He walked into the water, putting his face in it. Baliyo quickly ran towards him, thinking Kion was trying to kill himself, but Kion wasn't. Once his face was in the water he started rubbing his head with his paws, trying to get the paint that made clear that he was the king off of his head, and he accomplished doing that. Kion walked out of the water again. *Since I'm here now, I can also get a drink* he thought to himself.
While he was drinking Baliyo arrived at the watering hole. "What were you doing with your head underwater?" he asked. Kion stopped drinking and looked Baliyo right in the eyes. "Maybe you will see, now that I'm not drinking anymore." Baliyo did not notice any changes at first, but then Kion signalled towards the place where the paint used to be with his eyes. Baliyo gasped once he noticed the paint was gone. "You... You got rid of... the paint." Baliyo was stuttering. "I did, and you know what that means." Kion said. Baliyo didn't say anything out of shock. "I'm not the king anymore, which makes me free to leave." Kion walked away.
Kion entered the Tree of Life, where Rani was still asleep. He nudged her awake. Rani yawned. "Good morning Kion." she said. "It is over, Rani." "What are you talking about." she asked confused. "I'm not the king anymore, which means I'm free to leave." Rani started laughing. "I don't know what you've eaten, but you are the king." she stared. "The paint on your head..." she looked at Kion's head, and noticed the paint wasn't there anymore. She shed a tear. "You really aren't king anymore." she got closer to Kion. "This makes you free to leave, but just know that I really don't want you to." "We have talked about this Rani, and I'm not changing my mind about it. I'm leaving.
It was later that day, and all animals gathered around the Tree of Life. Makini had an important announcement. "Animals of the Tree of Life." she started once everyone arrived. "After some serious issues, Kion has decided not to be king of the Tree of Life anymore. He also decided to leave the Tree of Life later today." Everyone was shocked after the announcement.
Later that day Kion was ready to leave. "So... Where are you going now?" Rani asked. "I think I'm going to the Pridelands, letting my parents and Kiara know about the situation, and I don't know where I'm going after that." Kion told her. "Good luck, Kion. Just know that I wouldn't mind if you would ever pay a visit at all." "I will keep that in mind." the two lions cuddled each other one last time before Kion would leave for good. After a few minutes Kion said goodbye to everyone, after which he walked away. Bunga, Fuli, Beshte, Ono and Anga couldn't help but cry. Their long-time friend and leader, with whom they have been through a lot, just left them.
Kion was walking around the frozen lake for just one minute, when he suddenly heard a loud roar coming from the mountain pass. He looked back to see that Rani had collapsed to the ground. Another roar was heard. Kion ran back to the mountain pass.
"Kion, you're back... Why?" Rani asked, seeing Kion enter the mountain pass. "I heard your roar, what is wrong?" Kion asked her. "It is happening Kion." she said happily. "What is happening?" Kion asked confused. Rani looked him in the eyes. "You are going to be a dad." She said.
