III
The Merchant was beaming with light and joy: he had found a purpose, he is finally happy!
The world soon looked how it used to when he was a child. Tears were falling from his eyes
“I am cured; I am cured from my disease I can finally live happily again.” He wiped his tears
Against his sleeves and looked down at his ring. He wanted to test his new powers so he
Ran to the inn and just as the witch said he ran threefold faster than a horse.
The sun slowly rose, as Walter entered the inn people started to fill the table including
The old lady and her daughters. He proceed to the piety kitchen and he started to pour
The Death in the bottle on the foods. He did all this truly unseen by the cook or anyone.
He slithered around and about, pouring the last drop of poison and left to his room unnoticed.
Walter lay in bed and just a few moments Juliana opened his door and whispered “May you
Come join us for breakfast? We will continue our journey once we finish.” The Merchant murmured
“I do not fell well to-day but a little rest will recover me. I do not desire to eat at the moment
For my stomach is aching. Please, my lady leave me be.” And Juliana left the room
Walking into her coffin. Walter waited patiently holding his heavy breath. After two hours
Everyone was eating breakfast including the Cook. A wail, glass breaking,
Heavy thuds—the sounds were like a musical performance to Walter. There was silence
And the criminal got out of his bed and approach the door. Light shone from the room
As he opened the door. He walked slowly down the stairs; when he reached the bottom he saw
Bodies motionless on the floor—blood running from their noses and their mouth, their eyes
With bloody tears. Walter saw Juliana, Emma, Isabella, Beatrice, Beth, and Olivia’s bodies
On the floor in the east corner of the room and the old lady on Alice’s lap.
Without the slightest remorse the Merchant depart from the Inn through the front door.
