Third Person POV

"I just texted Caroline and Bonnie, they're on their way." Elena said, walking into her living room where Damon was seated on the couch.

"I just texted Stefan too. He'll be here soon." He said plainly. He could sense Elena's nervousness, but he didn't know what it was about.

She was standing on the other side of the room, leaning against the wall staring down at her shoes. He didn't get it, a couple minutes ago things we're perfect; they kissed, and basically confessed their feelings for eachother, and now she was being distant. It pained him inside.

He patted the spot next to him on the couch and said, "C'mere," She smiled slightly and did as he said, causing him to sigh in relief. She sat next to him and played with her fingers, not looking at him. Now he knew something was up.

"A few minutes ago you were being affectionate, now you're being distant. I don't like it. What changed?" He asked frowning.

"It's nothing." She said, now looking up at him. He didn't believe her for a second.

"Come on, I know you better than that sweetheart," He said softly, trying to soothe her. It worked, she relaxed a little bit and tried to hide her smile at how gentle and sweet he could be with her.

"It's just, I'm worried. We have no way to kill Klaus, meaning Stefan's humanity will stay off, and Klaus is going to keep building his army of hybrids. We're screwed." She says sadly.

He thinks it over. What she's saying isn't necessarily wrong, but he can't let her lose hope. If she can't be positive, then there's no chance he can. "Hey, weren't you the one who was just reassuring me 'we always survive'? What happened to that girl?" He asks trying to cheer her up.

She chuckles softly. "Well, that's not really all I'm worried about." She said quietly, shifting her eyes back to the floor. He frowned, realizing this was going to be harder than he thought.

"What else is goin' on in that beautiful head of yours?" He encourages her.

"How is, you know, us being together going to affect everything else?" She asked, now looking at him in the eyes.

He'd he lying if he said he hadn't thought about this too, but it still hurt a little bit hearing the words come out of her mouth. But he understood nonetheless. "What do you mean?" He asked curiously.

"Well, I doubt many people would support our relationship. I can't lose what little friends and family I have left." She says sadly.

"Some friends." He murmurs sarcastically. "And I know you can't lose Stefan either. As unbearable as he is right now, He's the only family you have left." She says, rubbing his shoulder comfortingly.

"That's where you're wrong Elena, I still have you," He says and smiles so sweetly that a full blush covers her face. "You're so beautiful when you blush," He says, watching her adoringly. She blushes even harder and pulls him in for a quick kiss, because she simply can't resist it. She's noticed how much her self-control decreases whenever he's near her, especially when he's being as sweet as he is right now.

She pulls away after a few seconds of bliss, knowing she still has a lot to say. Damon pouts playfully and she chuckles at his childish antics.

"Back to the point, I still care about my friends' opinions. They mean a lot to me." She says, trying to put it nicely. Her friends haven't always been Damon's biggest fan, although they have warmed up to him over the years.
