Hey guys!
Sorry it's been a bit since I last updated. I started online school again and it's been keeping me busy, as well as college apps and all that stuff :/ also i have had so much writer's block for this chapter and what to do for the rest of the book. I know how I want it to end but I just can't figure out how to get there, yanno? anyway, enough of my ramblings and onto this next chapter, which is basically just 7253 words of festive delena fluff + some smut. **Just a warning, it's a bit more descriptive than I usually write it so you can just skip past it you aren't comfortable with that :)
hope u enjoy!!
*also, edited this on a SCHOOL night so ignore all typos, as per usual ;) *

*this whole chapter is in nyc btw*

Third Person POV
December 23rd

"And submitted!" Elena said cheerfully, closing her laptop. She had just put the finishing touches on her NYU application and turned it in, well before the due date in hopes that she would get an answer from them sooner.

"You know, I could have just compelled you into the college," Damon remarked sarcastically from his spot next to her on the couch, his arm thrown around her shoulder as she leaned against him nonchalantly.

"Damon, that joke wasn't funny the first time you made it, and it's still not funny the tenth time," she teased him, but when she saw his pout she pecked him on the lips. (which turned his frown into a smile, naturally).

She tossed her laptop aside and curled into him, sighing contently as he wrapped his arms around her. She looked outside, just now noticing that it was dark out.

"Damon!" She exclaimed, "Why didn't you tell me I had been working so late? It's already nighttime!" Their flight had gotten in early this morning, and, after taking a catnap when she got to their apartment, she started working on her application. She had no idea she spent the whole day on it, not realizing how quickly the time went.

Damon just shrugged. "You were focused, I didn't want to distract you. Besides, we have all week to go out and do all the touristy holiday things that your adorable, Christmas-loving self wants to do." He smiled sweetly, kissing the top of her head. It was true, he didn't mind just staying in with her while she did her thing. He knew how important this was to her, and all of her hardwork (and his waiting) would be worth it when they were living in New York together while she attended school here. And getting to watch her so adorably focused on her work? Well worth it, he thought.

"You're the best." She said genuinely, lifting her head to give him a loving kiss.

"So I've been told," He smirked, causing her to roll her eyes.

She got up off the couch, holding out her hand for him. He gave her a questioning look. "Come on, let's go take a shower. You deserve to be rewarded for being so patient all day."

His lips quirked up in a smile. What did I do to deserve this girl, he thought. Grabbing her hand, he said, "Who am I to say no to that?"

"I'll be in bed," He told her, kissing her on the temple affectionately while she brushed her teeth.

She smiled warmly after him as she watched him walk out of their attached bathroom. Placing her toothbrush back in the cup on the counter next to his, she felt her heart swell at the action. She loved the sweet domesticity of being here with him, in his, no, their apartment, and she couldn't wait for when they would actually be living in it, not just staying for a little while during the holidays. That didn't mean she wasn't thrilled to be spending Christmas here with him. They and their family and close friends agreed they would celebrate together once they got back. For now, they wanted to celebrate their first Christmas as a couple, just the two of them.
