The next day...
Star woke up, bright and happy. It was a Monday, and a school day. Until Star got a call.
"Star, honey?"
"Mom! Why are you calling right in the morning?"
"Well, you know that Eclipsa has stepped down from the throne, and I need you to prepare for my re-coronation day. It will be held 3 days from now, so I'm afraid you'll have to-"
Star didn't wait for her mother to finish. "Of course, mom! I know your coronation day is like, super important and stuff, so like, I'm totally staying home from school, which I'm super sad because of it and stuff," Star said excitedly as she sat up straight in bed.
Moon sighed. "Alright, whatever you say. Meet me at the Monster Temple in an hour," and she hung up.
Star leapt out of bed and slammed opened Marco's bedroom door. "Marccooooooo~" she called, twirling around the room to his bed. "Wake uuupppppp~" Marco groaned and turned flipped to his other side. "Marco!" Star said, climbing onto the bed. She leaned on his stomach and poked his face. "Marco, wake up!" Marco shifted and opened his eyes a slight bit. "I love you too, Star," he whispered and closed his eyes again. Star smiled.
Marco walked to school alone that day. He just realized how much Star brighten up his life and sighed. He sure wouldn't be seeing her a lot now!
Jackie's POV:
I was skateboarding down the street when I noticed Marco. He wasn't with Star, like always.
"Hey, Diaz!" I called.
He turned around and stopped to wait for me. "Hey Jackie!"
I caught up with him and jumped off my skateboard, picked it up, and walked with him. "So, where's your girlfriend?" I asked, even though it kinda hurts me. He pointed to the Butterfly castle. "Star's helping her mother with her coronation day, so I guess I won't be seeing a lot of her lately," he shrugged, then smiled at me. "What are you up to lately? Like this new world?"
I smiled back. "Yeah, this world is kinda cool, actually," I said as I waved to a purple monster crossing the road. The monster waved back and I laughed. Marco laughed too. I looked at him. He was... um... really pretty, I guess. Then I felt myself blush and I quickly turned away.
"Are you alright?" Marco asked worriedly. I waved a hand towards him while trying to cover up my blush with my other hand. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm fine," I assured him. How could I be, I thought.
That afternoon, after school, Jackie went up to Marco's locker. "So, Marco," she started.
Kassie's POV:
I wandered through the new but familiar streets of Echo Creek, crossed with Mewni. It was just like what Star had described. I smiled as I reached Marco's and Star's school gates. It looked exactly the same, except for the stone opossum that stood next to the school doors. I took a deep breath and stepped inside. As I passed through the crowded hallways, I looked carefully for Marco's locker.
As I finally spotted his locker, he was talking to a girl who seemed like Jackie Lynn Thomas, Marco's long term crush. I grinned. Man, she's pretty, I thought as I stepped up behind them.
"You wanna go to the carnival today? I heard the humans and monsters have been practising some pretty sweet tricks!" Jackie finished. Marco slammed his locker shut. "Why not? I don't have anything planned!" he smiled. Just then, a girl about their age with long brown hair, a mole like Marco and a small scar on her right cheek came up behind them. Jackie turned.
"Oh, hello there. Uh, can we help you?" she asked. But Kassie kinda ignored her. She smiled awkwardly and waved. "Hi, Marco. Long time no see," said Kassie.
