Sometimes they want us killed, they want us to die.
Some parents don't wish for us to be born;
They say we are a disappointment.
Some of us have been abandoned, we aren't wanted
They look down on us, we are seen as weak.
They say we are inferior; that we cannot amount to them.
Less intelligent, less than nothing.
They underestimate us and tell us we need to know "our place".
They look at us, but don't see; judge us for who we are.
We are not people; all they see is an object.
We are judged because of our bodies, what we wear, how we look;
Personality is nothing.
Dress code violations; we are in trouble, told we have to change.
Hide our shoulders and hide our legs, if we don't we're sent home;
Teach us that hiding our body is more important than education.
A couple of us have been violated; defiled; we have lost our dignity.
They judge, they assume, they spread gossip;
As well as mock and patronize.
Told it is our fault.
We are treated unfairly.
Why?
Because we are girls.
