as unbelieavable as it sounds, i think driftaway from the steven universe movie is one of those songs that fits umbra really well . he wasn ' t always the bad guy , although now he is inherently a big , narcissistic asshole , he wasn ' t always like that .
umbra was neglected by his mother , primrose , left in the garden of a family h-home when she decides to follow her forbidden mate runningdrift into clan life , promising to come back for him . obviously , primrose never does , leaving little umbra waiting for countless moons while she merrily frolics through her new clanlife , without a care in the world , whelping two more litters .
it ' s only when he eavesdrops on neighbouring cats these bits & pieces of information that he finds out what ' s been going on . it ' s only when he finds out she passed away that he realizes his mother never cared , never held onto her words & only saw him as a burden , leaving innocent , little umbra to wait on a dead promise .
this experience turned umbra bitter & cold , & he could have searched for support , he had made friends of the other gardens ' cats , but he instead decides to rely on the wrong kind . he veered to paths that aren ' t meant for the faint of heart . he hung out with cats that were vile of heart , & he let them influence his young self .
