Chapter 1

[Ginny's POV]

I've just recently moved out to Del Sol Valley, and I have to admit, it was an excellent decision. I wasn't having much improvement with my freelance art in my home town, and the vibe here's helping me break out of my shell much better than my old town ever had. Del Sol Valley's obviously the center of celebs and the it place, so I have a thousand things to draw. I'm making it seem perfect here, when there are a few downsides. The main one being loneliness. I'm not a naturally outgoing person, but friends around make anyone feel better. That's what I was thinking when I went for a walk this afternoon. Deep in thought, a dog suddenly comes up to me, tongue hanging out of its mouth and wagging its tail. While the dog looked perfectly friendly, it caught me by surprise and I back away as it tries to sniff me.

"Sorry! I'm so sorry. Lilo, not everyone fancies attention, girl!"

A short girl with vibrant red hair, a fringe, baggy clothes and a chill yet quirky vibe comes to claim the dog.

"Sorry," she repeats as she comes up to me. "She's very friendly, but doesn't always realize that not everyone's up for it."

"It's fine, she caught me off guard," I reply as I scratch the dog behind her ears.

"Oh, phew. Some people get quite pissed off at me for not controlling her better. I'm new to the neighborhood, in my old one everyone knew her and didn't mind. Sorry, I'm blabbing non stop, I should get going."

"No, stay, I needed a bit of blabbing. I'm new to Del Sol Valley, it is quite a lot to take in, isn't it?" I hold out my hand. "Ginny."

"Manon," she replies, smiling and shaking my hand.

"Up for a coffee?"

"Sure!" she seems surprised, which makes me like her even more. "Would you mind if I asked a few of my friends along? You could get to know them!"

"The more the merrier," I say, grinning.

"Let's drop off Lilo at my flat, my favourite coffee place's near there."

We chat non stop the whole way as if we've known each other for years. While my old friend group's quite exclusive, Manon's a very no judge person and makes me feel at peace straight away. I learn she's a journalist, and she gets excited when I tell her I'm a freelance artist. She wants to know all about me and my job and seems genuinely interested, something my old friends lacked. It makes me feel a lot more confident, like I can confide in her. If her friends are like this, Del Sol Valley's really working out well for me...

To be continued...
