[Ginny's POV]

Cody Jett's stood in the door frame, anger etched in his face such as I have never seen him before. He's radiating such power that he seems to be giving off burning heat. A few seconds pass in which we're all stood gaping at his sudden appearance.

Then comes a shriek of "Liar! Liar! She lied!"

In an instant, many things happen at once. Cody finally reveals his full self, eyes glowing red, long fangs, his face gaunt and dangerous. I barely have time to admire this new development before all the figures around me go in for the attack. A soft, long fingered hand gropes my arm and pulls me away from the big blow, which misses me by inches.

"Go! Now! Go!"

Mohegan. She's pulled me to a safe corner and is now edging me to the door. But I can't go. Cody's in there. He's in there. Fighting for me. Proving that all I believed to be nonsense is true. A tortured, grimly familiar scream from behind's what convinces me to wheel around and engulf myself in the full fight. I've gone slightly overboard, as I'm greeted by a dozen vampires with super strength and Lord knows what other powers they possess. A blow to the head misses me and I duck behind a chair. Seconds of no action...

Two strong hands seize my neck and I'm left momentarily without oxygen. I kick around and must've hit him, because whoever it is releases me with a grunt of pain. Before he can resurrect, I grasp the chair that was my hiding place and smash it over his head with all the force I can muster. Leaving my opponent bleeding from one of the chair's legs that had prodded him in the eye, I hopelessly look for a sign of Cody. Squinting and spotting him in a flash of red hair, he looks to be in combat with Ulric. I manage to duck for cover and think fast, coming to his aid by seizing a glass vase and hurling it at the both of them. It misses Ulric, Cody catches it and shatters it over the brute's head. In that short moment of no action, I scan the situation and notice in an upsurge of triumph Mohegan's managed to get more on our side. We're still down by two or three, but it seems to at least be more evenly matched now. Speaking of Mohegan, apparently she's some type of vampire alpha, as she's still managed to remain unscathed and is blasting jets of light at any chance she gets, wrecking everything around her. But smashed furniture's the least of my worries when the guy whose eye I injured earlier returns, fully healed and ready for revenge. I take a sprint and shield myself with a pan that I snatch from the stove. The attacker's followed me and I whack him across the face with my newly found weapon. The purple bruising I've created miraculously fades within seconds and he roughly lifts me from the ground, throwing me bodily across the room. My fall's broken by Mohegan, who uses her force to slow my crash and I land gently on the ground. In a roar of outrage, Cody spots me on the floor and goes full rampage on the culprit, somehow flying swiftly across the room and battling my earlier opponent.

A female vampire with scarlet locks takes advantage of my momentary pause of watching Cody fight and flicks her fingers to me in a dangerous fashion. A purple stream escapes her hand and goes through my chest. In an instant, I'm frozen, rooted to the spot, unable to move a single finger. Whatever spell she's used on me, I'm immobile, forced to watch Cody battle it out, receiving injuries that magically melt away within seconds. Cackling, she strikes me across the face before moving to my neck. Blood splatters everywhere and I feel my nose break. Warm blood streaming down my front, her mouth nears, ready to turn me into a monster like the rest of them. But just when I think all hope's lost, I hear a loud crunch as she receives a hard blow to the head from Cody, who unintentionally strikes me, too. Unfrozen, I fall to the floor with a nasty crack and feel a broken ankle. My vision's blurry, my mouth's filled with blood and I'm again immobile due to my injured foot.

"Ginny..." Cody murmurs, gently picking me up and rubbing my ankle, which heals instantly. "G-go.. Escape.."

"No," I whisper back. "I-I'm staying.."
