[Ginny's POV]

Some of the best months of my life follow me and Cody's meeting. After a few weeks of being too nervous to call him, I finally drop the 'let's hang' text. That was enough to break the ice. Next thing I know, we're practically hanging out every day: thousands of coffee dates, hundreds of movie nights, enough amusement park trips to last me a lifetime, and more laughter than I thought I had the lung capacity to manage. Long story short, it was a wild ride. Of course I'm still well in touch with Manon, Hollie and the rest. They join me and Cody a fair few times, always hinting there's something more between me and him and making kissy faces behind his back. While I didn't like to admit it to them - in fact, only Manon knew - I did feel like there was something there with Cody. I was confident in my feelings, but if he didn't feel the same, I could be ruining an amazing friendship.. I've caught myself staring at him a couple times, and him doing the same. Should I risk losing my best friend in the hope of gaining his affection?

Speaking of my best friend, I've just heard the doorbell and I recognize it. Cody has his signature ring, two short ones and then a long ring that nearly tears my ear drums. I open the door with a sweeping gesture and find Cody with a large box of Dunkin' Donuts.

"Hey," I say, eyeing the box.

"Sup'," he replies. "I was thinking of devouring this, then heading to this new waterpark I heard about."

"Sounds like a plan. Mind if I ask if the girls to tag along?"

"The more cute girls in bikinis, the better," he winks.

"Good point," I say, tapping him on the nose and rolling my eyes.

Manon, Hollie, Em and Alyssa are up for it, Lydia's got an afternoon with family planned. Munching chocolate glazed donuts, I help Cody pack his swim trunks and a fluffy towel. Around noon, the girls arrive, clutching beach bags filled to the brim with sunscreen, extra clothing, sunglasses and snacks. Full to bursting with donuts, I make a mental note to hold off on that last one for a bit. As Cody heads to the restroom, the girls huddle together and motion for me to join them.

"What?" I whisper to them.

"We've brought the perfect suit for impressing tall boy," Em tells me, winking.

"What?! Guys, I've told you multiple times to leave it!"

Manon shoots me a guilty it's-not-my-fault look. I frown.

"C'mon guys, can you let it go? It's not going to happen, and that's final!"

Oops. That was loud.

"What's not going to happen?" asks Cody, strolling back into the room.

"Cody! I- We were just.. Uh.." I cast around for an excuse as we all frantically get out of our huddle.

"Em's working on that summer bod, so she's not eating any junk food today," says Hollie quickly, trying not to laugh.

Manon and Alyssa bury their faces in their towels to muffle their laughter. Em frowns as I chuckle. Cody slowly nods, looking confused.

"Right," he replies, clearing his throat. "Everyone ready? It's a ten minute walk from here, so we'll manage."

He takes my bag and arm and leads me out the room. I hear the girls' usual immaturity behind me and try to tune them out. Manon joins me on my other side. "Just ignore them," she whispers in my ear. "I'll tell them to shut it."

Apparently Manon can be demanding when she wants to, because they leave me alone the rest of our trip. When we arrive, we throw off our clothes to reveal various swimsuits, some dazzling, some cheeky, and speed to the water slides. Manon immediately spots the biggest one and half drags us to it. We split into groups of three and go down it one group after another, holding hands the whole slide down. At one point me and Cody wander off to head to the lazy river. We pass a large pink slide with lots of loops and turns, and some guy spots us and comes over, shouting "Ooh, another lovey dovey couple! Come with me, you love birds, there's an attraction especially for you!"

"But- we're not-" I try to protest, but he's having none of it and pushes us towards the slide.

Next thing I know, we're being shoved into a duo donut floatie that has us in a position where we're practically cuddling. Cody's as red as I am, and neither of us is able to do anything as we get pushed off into the slide. Now, I'm not a squeamish person, but long twisty and turny rides never do me any good. At one point I nearly slip and fall out. Cody grips my shoulders and pulls me back on, my head on his chest. I close my eyes, smelling his fumes as we come out the slide, splashing around in the water, still gripping each other close. I hear familiar taunting whistles and quickly pull away, blushing profusely. Cody's scratching his neck, still burning red. He takes my hand and helps me out the water. I walk over to the girls, not looking any of them in the eye. Cody makes an excuse to head to the bathroom and departs. All four of the girls are goggling at me.

"Leave it," I mumble, fumbling with the clasp of my suit.

None of us mention it the rest of our day there. As we leave, Em, Alyssa and Hollie suggest a movie night at Em's place, but I decline. So does Cody, and he leaves shortly after, giving the vibe that he wanted to leave as quickly as possible. Manon offers to walk me home. This was her hint of wanting to stay over and keep me company, so I agree. I've never felt more humiliated, and the fact that Cody left so quickly only made matters worse. Does it prove he doesn't feel that way about me..?

To be continued...
