[Ginny's POV]

I wake up feeling elated from last night's mini slumber party, until the water park scandal comes back to me and the excited feeling gets squashed instantly. I spot a note from Hollie on my bedside table, saying she had to leave early this morning but that we should hang out together again soon. Manon's still snoring loudly beside me. Feeling impulsive, I grab my phone and see if Cody's texted or called me at all. Nothing. I write a message to him in a blind rage of fury. I feel Manon stir on my left.

"What's going on?" she yawns as she sees me typing angrily.

"I'm texting Cody," I snarl at her. She raises her eyebrows.

"Let me proof-read it for you before you send it, Gin." she reaches for my phone. "Best friend's code. C'mon."

I hand my phone to her, still glaring. We go over the message together, and at the end we're laughing.

"I can't send that to him!" I say through a fit of giggles.

"No, you can't! If I had a dollar for every time you called him an ignorant asshole in that, call me Bill Gates!" says Manon, choking from laughter.

"Wait!" I goggle at my phone as it buzzes.

"What?" she tries to look over my shoulder.

"A text from Cody!" I squeak.

"What does it say?"

"If we could meet up today. At Fire and the Flames, 6 pm!"

"Girl, are you kidding? That's initiating to a date! You know what this calls for?" Manon says excitedly, grabbing my hands.

"What?" I ask, still breathless.

"A day to the mall! You need a fine outfit for this! Mission impress Cody!"

"Mission impossible," I mumble inaudibly.

But Manon's hard to stop when she's on a mission. Not even 20 minutes later and we're speeding to the mall. She half drags me to different stores, being extremely picky and turning down half the things I think'd be fine. The hours seem to fly, and soon we're back at my place with a perfect Manon-approved date outfit. For a girl with minimal fashion sense herself, she can put together an outfit for sure: we both agreed on a flowy pastel floral dress that goes to a few inches above my knees, white heels, my hair half up in soft curls, a fresh make-up look, baby blue nails to match the dress, and she lets me borrow her pastel clutch.

"Damn, Gin!" Manon says, whistling. "If he turns you down like this, the girls and I'll go on Mission Slaughter Cody!"

I twirl around in my dress, hoping very hard that Manon's right. We send a pic of me in my outfit to the girls, and then it's already 5:45 pm..

"Wish me luck!" I blow a kiss to Manon as I walk out the door to my Uber.

"Knock 'em dead, Gin!" she calls, waving.

The jittery feelings were back, and the butterflies in my stomach felt more like seagulls at the moment...

To be continued...
