[Ginny's POV]

The world's broken down, ended, so why's everyone still going about life as if I didn't just lose the person I never thought I'd let go of? Cody'd fed me some cock and bull story about vampires yesterday, packed his bag and left. He's gone. I've never felt so miserable before, yet my insides're also boiling with fury at how he's handled the break up. Tell me some tall tale and say farewell? As if. To make matters worse, as much as I love Miele, she's nevertheless a reminder of that prat, and seeing her only makes me feel more down. Sure, I've dealt with a break up or two, but this one's so unexpected that I'm not at all prepared to cope with it. Feeling the need to blow off steam, I send Manon a short text of 'coming over' and set off, not waiting for a reply. Peeking inside as I arrive, I see Hollie and Em are there, too, which strangely annoys me.

"Hey, girl!" smiles Manon when she spots me.

I grunt in reply. Em laughs at this greeting and I scowl at her. Taken aback, she shoots me a confused look. I ignore her.

"What's up?" Hollie asks, raising her eyebrows.

"Nothing. Sorry," I mumble almost inaudibly to Em. She nods back, grinning but sharing a look with Hollie, too.

Manon knows me well enough not to drag on about it and offers me some tea. "We were just deciding on a movie. Honey?"

I nod and give her a small smile, not wanting to appear ungrateful. The tea warms my already boiling insides and I feel somewhat soothed.

"Where're Lydia and Alyssa?" I ask in an attempt to perk up.

"Well, our girl Lydia's on a date," Em replies, wiggling her eyebrows.

"And Alyssa didn't reply, we expect she's asleep," Hollie informs me with her mouth full of chocolate.

Grabbing a muffin from the tray on the coffee table, I stuff it in my mouth and sit back to watch whatever movie they've chosen. The girls laugh and chat through it, but I merely sit and stare, my head elsewhere. I notice Manon looking at me with a mix of pity and confusion in her gaze a couple times, but she averts her eyes when I glance back. Halfway through the movie, Em takes the remote and hits pause.

"OK, Ginny, spit it out," she says, giving me a hard look. "What's on your mind?"

"Em.." Manon mumbles, not finishing her sentence.

"Cody ended things yesterday," I say quietly.

Em and Hollie gasp and look at each other. Manon frowns, biting her lip. She covers my hand with hers and squeezes it.

"What happened?" she asks timidly.

"I don't want to talk about it," I whisper back, looking away and blinking back tears.

"It'll make you feel better, trust me. Let it all out, don't bottle it up. Eventually it'll become too much, you'll explode. C'mon. It's alright." Manon gives me an encouraging smile.

"I said no. Drop it, can't you? I'm fine." I wipe the tears from my eyes and frown.

"And have you return to scowling at us the rest of the night? Gin, c'mon. Don't be like that. Tell us what's up, we'll stop bugging you," Em urges me.

"Will you give it a rest and turn on the damn movie!" I shout, firing up.

"Don't you start on us now!" Hollie retorts, glaring at me.

Manon seems apprehensive, Hollie looks away and Em frowns.

"Ginny, we're really sorry, but-" Manon starts, but I cut her off.

"Oh, you're sorry!" I huff. "And you think it'll be alright if you just say you're sorry?"

"Well, you're not letting us say much else, are you?" Em snaps at me.

"Gin, can't you-" begins Manon, before I interject.

"Don't 'Gin' me! You really believe it'll help if I only talk about it? Life can't be solved by pouring my heart out, Manon! Hell, it's not all sunshines and rainbows like your bloody perfect fantasy! You think it's as easy as all those romcoms make it seem? This is real life, not a Hallmark movie where a night with friends magically fixes every single fucking thing! Just a montage of happy thoughts, peace and love! Look where love's left me! I have no one! What d'you make of that? 'Oh, Ginny, I'm so sorry about your psycho boyfriend having broken up with you, just drop the attitude and move on, you'll feel so much better'! I won't feel better, hell, I'm miserable and you lot just sit there, goggling at me, thinking there's a single solution that'll magically poof all my problems away? What lies've you been listening to your whole life?"

I hurl all this at them in a blind rage of fury, not bothering to watch my mouth. Manon's dropped the nice girl now, too.

"Gosh, I have no idea what lies we've been 'wrongly' believing, but if we're such a pain in the ass, why're you still even here? Show yourself out, will you?" snarls Manon.

Hollie and Em don't look at me as I shoot them all one last furious look and shove Manon on my way out. She doesn't give me another glance when I slam the door shut the same way I did to Cody the day before. Yesterday seems like an eternity ago. Now I really have no one..

To be continued...
