Sarah POV:
I sat under the tree that Lana, Adam, Cole and I sit under every day at lunch as I waited for the others to join me.
"Baby?" Adam said, softly and sat next to me. "Hey." I replied.
Adam then kissed my cheek, gently where he slapped me the day before.
"I'm sorry about yesterday, Sarah. Just please try to behave, okay? I promise things will get better." Adam said, trying to justify his actions. "I'll try." I said, quietly. "I love you." He said and gave me a kiss. "I love you, too." I lied.
If I didn't tell him that I loved him when he expected me to, he would get upset and throw me around like a fucking rag doll. That's all I was to him.
I know the MC could easily take care of Adam. He was a bad person but that didn't mean I wanted him dead.
"Hey, guys." Cole said as we walked up with Lana, hand in hand.
Lana sat next to me and pulled out her guitar.
"Will you sing to me?" I asked, softly.
Hearing Lana sing had always made me feel better. She had such amazing talent and I was so proud of her.
We were different in many ways but she was the only person that understood me. We have been nearly inseparable our entire lives. I can count on one hand how many arguments we've had throughout our lives.
"Sure, what do you want to hear?" She asked.
"Stairway to Heaven?" I asked. Stairway to Heaven was always the song that could get my mind off of all the shit that went on in my life. When the song played, no one else existed.
Lana played the melody on the guitar and began to sing.
"There's a lady who's sure
All that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven."
While I sat and listened to Lana sing, the world around me faded away. I had completely forgotten about the people around me.
Lana had always been the talented out of the two of us. She was an amazing singer and it was such a passion for her. She treated her guitar like it was her baby. Every morning before class, she would make sure it was perfectly in tune and made sure the strings were in perfect condition.
"Sarah, are you okay?" Lana asked as we made the ten minute walk to our apartment. "Yeah, why?" I asked. "You're quiet." She responded. "I'm fine. I'm just tired from studying for the test tomorrow." I told her.
I had become a master at lying and hiding my emotions over the last year.
I pulled out my phone when I heard a ding.
Kade: Hey, Sarah. How was school?
Fine.
Kade: Your dad misses you.
Screw him. He's an ass.
Kade: I agree but that doesn't mean he misses you any less.
I sighed and put the phone back in my pocket.
"How about a double date tonight? I enjoyed the last one we went on." Lana told me. I gave her the most convincing smile I could. "Sure. I'll run it by Adam." I said. "Awesome." She replied.
God, why am I such a pussy? Was there any possible way I could tell my dad without getting Adam killed? I highly doubt that.
In the MC it's kill or be killed in a lot of situations. I really didn't want this to be one of them. I had to figure something out before my dumbass gets killed.
