Sarah POV:
I sat in my office in the clinic as I set up my tools to get ready for my first patient.
The MC had called and told me they had found a man at one of the ware houses that had been shot in the stomach and they were rushing him down here. He was unresponsive but still breathing.
"Sarah!" Marley called out as he and Ryder carried him into the clinic.
"Here." I said, pointing to the hospital bed.
When the guys laid the man on the bed, I got to work hooking him up to an IV and the heart monitors.
"Do you know how this happened?" I asked them. "No, we just found him there. He had to have been moved. Could have been a random shooting and left him for dead for all we know." Ryder said. "I got it guys. Give me some room." I replied and got to work.
I pulled out a pair of tweezers and an alcohol pad, cleaning it thoroughly.
This man was bleeding out and fast. I was going to lose him if I didn't get this stitched up.
The bullet was deep so it was hard to find, but I finally managed to pull it out.
"Marley, put pressure on the wound while I get this needle sterilized." I told him. He rushed to the man's side and placed both hands over the wound and put all his weight on it.
This man was dying. His skin was starting to pale and his pulse was getting weaker.
"Move." I said and got back to work.
After I got the wound stitched up, I cleaned the area and put a clean gauze pad over it.
"Now what?" Marley asked. "Now, we wait." I replied checking his heart rate.
A while later, I was cleaning my supplies when I heard the man groan.
I turned and rushed to his side.
"Hey, hey. You're okay." I told him. "Where am I? Who are you?" He asked. "My name is Sarah Reyes. I'm a doctor." I told him. "What am I doing here?" He asked me. "You were shot. My friends brought you in. Can you tell me what happened?" I asked. "I was meeting my girlfriend. These guys came up to me, tried to rob me and when I refused, they shot me." He told me.
This dude was lying through his teeth. I could see it.
"Then why move you? Why not just leave you there?" I asked. "What do you mean?" The man asked. "My friends found you at a ware house that we own. Evidence showed that you were moved." I told him. "I don't know." He replied.
I sighed and nodded. I can't force any answers out of the guy.
"What's your name?" I asked. "Dean Crawford." He said. "Okay, Dean. Stay right here. I'll be back." I told him.
I walked out of the room to talk to Marley and Ryder.
"He's awake. He said he was robbed." I told them. "No way. A mugger wouldn't move the body. He would have left him there and ran off. I've seen it enough." Ryder told me. "I know. His name is Dean Crawford. Can you ask Danny to get some info on him?" I asked. "You got it." Marley replied.
I went back into the room and saw Dean sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Take it easy." I told him and helped him lean back.
"Where did you say I was?" He asked. "You're in a clinic owned by a local MC." I told him. "Vipers or Angels of Night?" He asked. "You've heard of them, I'm guessing?" I asked. "Everyone has. There are a shit ton of rumors about them. No one really knows what any of them are about." He replied. "Yeah, I've heard a few of them." I told him.
"When can I leave?" He asked. "Not now." Is all I told him.
I wasn't letting him go until I found out what happened to him. He was found half dead on our property and it could bring trouble.
"When?" He asked. "Mr. Crawford, you were found on MC property. I'm gonna be honest. It's shady and I don't believe a word you told me. So unless you tell me now, I'll have my men look into it." I told him.
He just sat in silence.
"I'll find the truth either way, Mr. Crawford." I said and folded my arms over my chest.
Dean finally sighed and nodded.
"I was at a club that the Vipers owned one night. My wife had just left me and took my son with her. I was tight on money. A guy named Sonny, I think his name was, came up to me and we started talking. He made me an offer." He said.
Oh, this is getting bad.
"Go on." I told him. "He offered to pay me for a job. He didn't go into specifics."
I then cut him off.
"You didn't ask what the fucking job was?" I asked. "I was desperate." He replied. "What was the job?" I asked. "I can't tell you that. I agreed, but when the time came to do it, I couldn't. I didn't have it in me." He said. "That bad, huh?" I asked. "Yeah. When I tried to back out of it, he shot me." He said. "And that's it?" I asked. "Yeah." He replied.
I sighed. Good enough for now, I guess.
"Mr. Crawford, I can't let you go anywhere until we find out who did this to you. Did he say who he was working for?" I asked.
He just shook his head.
"Well, I'm calling my father. He's the president of the MC and he will like to have a word with you about this." I told him and left the room.
"Wait!" He called out to me.
I sighed and walked back into the room.
"Who is he?" Dean asked. "President of the Angels of Night." I said and left the room again.
