Chapter 4: Secret, Secret, how you gonna keep it?

I pulled up in my limo full of anger and got out the car with Bass following my every step, he was tall and built, not very well on the looks and he kept a stern face He closed the car door after handing me my bag and drove away.

I barged through the school doors and moved so fast and with so much strenth that anyone in my way was either jumped to the side or was crushed. I found my locker and threw my bag inside slamming the locker door closed again.

" Hey there." I turned around to see Jake standing there with a goofy smile.' I rolled my eyes and leaned against my locker.

"What?" I snapped. He looked suprised.

"Just saying hi to my girl, so.... Hi-" I pushed back on my feet and shoved past him to Shane who was now fiddling with his locker combo. He took one look at me and rolled his eyes.

"What does princess bitch want now?"

"Your girlfriends head on a plate." I spat the word girlfriend out with so much hate that I even scared myself a bit but Shane just laughed.

"Back off, grumpy. Did mummy had a problem with your theiving addiction?" Shane stayed as cool as ever which made me even angrier. Jake took my hand and pulled me back so he could step in for me which both annoyed me but made me thankful at the same time.

"The hell are you talking about?" Jake growled. Shane closed his locker and turned to face us.

"Oh? She didn't  tell you?" The anger drowned right out of me and I reliesed I hadn't told Jake anything about yesterday." Well your little darling has been hording expensive items in her locker, specifically the ones that belong to other people."

"They planted them on me." I counted. Shane's eyes swung over to mine.

"I can't speak for the laptop, but did you not willingly take a 'meaningful' necklace from Scar?" His eyes bore into mine and I took a step back. Meaningful? Now I stood tall and strong, Jake stared at me from my side as if he was disapointed.

"Meaningful? You've known her for three days and thats if you count today, how bloody meaningfull can that be?" In that moment I hated him, I did think he was a scandlous jerk but now I can barely stand to look him in the eye. Shane shuffled on his feet as if deciding to say something or not, had I hit a nerve? Could he really be that in love after two and a quarter days?

"The necklace wasn't meant for her." And with that he pushed himself up off his locker and walked away. I stood there not knowing I was holding my breath or why I felt so guilty, he was the one that cheated on me right? Jake has the evidence! But I can't help but wonder, if that necklace wasn't for her, then it must have been for..... For our six weeks anniversery, which might not seem much to other people cause it's only a little over two months but we had been seeing each other long before we made it official.

Nothing makes sense anymore, why would he buy that for me then not show up to dinner? I remembered Jake was beside me and I glanced up at him, his eyes found mine and I realised that I'm with him now, thats all that matters.

************** Jake's POV************************

I sat in the cafeteria at lunch angry and upset. Shane had almost exposed what I buried a long time ago. I can't risk anymore questioning. Shane and Cynthia never should have been together, he knew I liked her although he did meet her first when his brother had introduced him, I shake my head and rid of all the thoughs in my head, Cynthia loves me, I tell myself.

"Hi my name is Scarlett." My head swings to the right and I watch as she takes herself a seat across from mine. I lay back in my chair and act confident.

"The hell do you want?" I pulled my lunch tray closer to observe my options.

"Just to introduce myself, which I have. Wanna know a secret?" Her expression was playful and full of child-like wonder.

"Ive got enough of my own thanks." I pick up a hamburger and take a bite. Scarlett smiles devishly.

"Oh, I know you have a secret and I want to know it. See I can read people-"

"Spare me the lifestory?"

"And I can tell that your not just hiding anything, your hiding the key."  I swallow my bite in time for a laughing fit.

"Key? What are you a phsyco? Piss off!" I continue laughing until she answers.

"The key to the story, see it dosn't make sense, Shane and Cynthia are in love, their anniversery night all planned, but then Shane who recently purchased a very expensive necklace dosn't show up? Next thing we know Cynthia is cheating on him or is he cheating on her? There  stories are so one-sided, each believes the other cheated, in one Shane didn't show up to dinner so he could cheat with Kaitlin the girl from Sallow high and in the other Cynthia showed up with another guy, you."

"Whats your point?" I snap. She smiles ever so sweetly that it burns anger in me.

"My point happens to be, did they both just suddenly cheat at the same time? Or was it planned?"

"Planned? The hell are you talking about?" Suddenly she jumps up and leans over across the table.

"Soon enough, I will find out your secret." Then she bounded off down the hall leaving her lunch behind. The burger stuck in my throat and I feel sick.

"Hey there babe, sorry about this morning, I've calmed down." She took a seat next to me. "Who's food tray is that?" she pointed to Scarlett's tray.

"Tyler's, we were hanging out and then he had to go to training, footy training." Cynthia squinted.

"I thought he stopped being your friend after you and Shane fought?" I nodded.

"We are patching things up." Cynthia nodded slowley then thankfully changed the subject

"Anyway I have a plan to get back that jerk and his pet." I pretended to be intrested but really I wanted to stay away from scarlett, she clearly is not somebody to mess with.
