"Okay everyone, would y'all be quiet now?" one of our teachers shouted through the entrance hall of the hotel. This time it seemed to be more effective since silence took the place of all the noise that had been roaming the room a few seconds ago. It was now 3 pm, the moment we were supposed to meet up once again. Anna, Jackie and I ended up in another little bistro where we weren't notorious, because leaving trash didn't seem to be a soft crime here in Paris. I was really wishing to forget this morning as fast as I could, but that guy seemed to stick in my thoughts like gum. In the meantime, I had changed sweaters and put his in my bag so that if the ill occurrence came where I'd have to face him again, I could return his clothing. I didn't want to meet eyes with him again because he probably thinks of me as the stunned girl at Mc Donalds, but on the other side of things, I wanted to know him, or at least his name.
"We're going to the Louvre; there we'll tag along with one of the tours to get you all some information you don't easily find on the internet," our teacher told us and Anna sighed, a reaction that seemed common around my class right now. "Stay close to us on the metro," was the last warning given before starting our journey. It had already gotten warmer and people seemed to crawl from under the street tiles to enjoy this weather. Our voyage on the metro went smoothly, apart from the fact that a few guys had to get their ears pulled because they were planning to scream a very unpleasant thing through the metro wagon that would probably turn the whole city upside down and inside out.
We got off at Palais Royal, Musée du Louvre. This stop was apparently the closest to our destination, even though I still had no idea how to get there. When we reached the ground floor, we mixed in with the grand crowd eager to find the place of interest, our teachers leading us swiftly through the masses, clearly knowing their way. "Did we really travel all this way for a glass pyramid?" Jackie asked disappointed, looking rather disinterested at the statue. "That's not the Louvre, Jack, wrong monument," Anna said and turning her towards the right building. "Still, we did all this to look at a place I can easily find on Google?" she complained whereafter I lost all hope in her. "Come on, Jackie. A search engine can't give you a view like this?" Mr. Monroe, our ironic, yet driven and motivated history teacher. He was, without a doubt, the best docent of our entire Institute because he was always optimistic towards his own and our lives. If you didn't turn in your homework, he would give you time to better yourself. He was a teacher sent from Heaven and walking among us. Although, he was also a master at exaggeration.
"if you use the right filters, I can get very close, sir," Jackie defended herself and I softly pulled her away. If this little smart ass started like that, it would easily escalate to a discussion that could permanently damage her final grade.
"Okay everyone, turn your attention to us for a second!" I heard behind me, and when turning around, I saw Jones standing on a street edge. "Before I even start, I want to kindly ask you to turn off the sounds of your phones. You will all be allowed to take photos and your 'selfies' once we're inside, but for now, turn off those bird whistles and sounds of breaking glass," he said and patiently waited until everyone had pocketed their phones again. "Now, we're now standing in front of the world-famous Musée du Louvre. It is one of the biggest exhibition on this planet. The most well-known painting is, of course, the mona-... Jane!" He called while a loud Britney Spears song started to originate from my bag. I freaked out and began frantically searching through my stuff. The sound's started to more potent as I dug my hands through the contents. I was surprised to feel vibrations coming from the hoodie, this couldn't be coming from my phone. I kept digging through my stuff, still in denial that this was coming from my gear, I didn't even 'stan' Britney.
Right when I got grip on a hard device that I pulled from within the folds of the sweater, it was hauled from my hand. "But it isn't mi-..." but I didn't get the chance to finish my words. "Stay quiet or you won't see it back for the rest of the week," my teacher said surly whereafter I decided that I didn't want to get into a discussion with 30 pairs of eyes burning in my sides and back especially not since I wasn't going to sacrifice my exam grades for a phone that wasn't even mine. Oh, this guy deserved a kick in the willy if I ever see him again.
The rest of our tour went boring as everyone had expected. We walked around in circles while Monroe kept babbling about how culturally rich this place was, while all I could see was a glass pyramid and an old building surrounding it. Then we returned to the metro, all fatigued from the long walk. Jackie, Anna and I were fortunate to find a seat in the wagon and right when we sat down; the train started to speed up once again. "Did you get that phone back yet?" Jackie asked, and I shook my head. "It's his fault, though. He embarrassed me in front of my teachers," I groaned, and she nodded in agreement. "But how stupid can you be to leave your phone in the pocket of a sweater you're giving away?" I mumbled whereafter Jackie scoffed, and Anna looked at me with raised eyebrows. "You really don't understand the situation, do you?" Jack asked and heaved my shoulders. "he meant to do that, you airhead!" she yelled rather loudly through the metro, loud enough to make heads turn.
"He wanted to find you again. Therefore he left something important with you, just to be able to track you down," Jackie explained a bit quieter, and I shook my head in disbelief. "If that was his plan, how is he going to find Jane then?" Anna said while Jackie let her brain wheels turn again. Before she could come up with an answer, the tube stopped and the doors slid open in a matter of seconds. The teachers yelled at us to get off and assemble on the platform, which we did. "I don't know," Jack answered after the change of locations had delayed her thinking," stalking has become so easy with social media these days. Plus, if he has the right apps, he'll find you in no time". We climbed a staircase to the new level, where I sighed at the sight of a second flight of steps in front of us. "I truly feel like a pigeon that just got ringed," I mumbled whereafter the argument fell flat.
In the flood of students, we walked back to the hotel where we were held back at the doors. "I really hope you enjoyed your first cultural trip," Monroe started, not getting a very enthusiastic response, which didn't seem to bother him at all. "you are now free to roam the streets and to find yourselves dinner, we all expect you to be mature enough to use a fork and knife without supervision," Jones chipped in with a rather annoyed tone in his voice. "At last, we have one rule that you all need to follow, you have to be in your hotel room by 1 am or else you will have to be administered by one of us, understand?" he said watching us all nod simultaneously.
"man, I can't even stay awake 'till 11 pm if I tried," I mumbled while we walked into the lobby. Before anyone could answer, our eyes fell on a figure standing by the front desk. He looked up when he heard our class enter whereafter his eyes fell upon me, making the air in my lungs turn to stone.
It was the boy
from the Champs-Élysées.
