Detective Aaron's POV

How did a trip to go see my family turn into me seeing Rachel? I know that the case was closed but there was still hope that I would find her. But I didn't think that I would run into her this way. 

I walked into the diner and looked around. It was unusually empty. I scanned the place and that's when I saw her. But I wasn't sure. I ordered my meal up front and that's when I noticed the man who was with Rachel get the check. I saw them sign it and the man walked out, to the car, just as I got my receipt for the order I placed. I saw a glimpse of his face, but not the full picture. I looked back at Rachel, she was now walking towards the door, I had to make my move in order for my suspicions to be true. I bumped into her, making them fall off. Only then did I know it was here. I started up a conversation. Tried to get her talking. She didn't want to but she did. Only until the man called her over. She left and they drove off. Thank god I had gotten a picture of the linens plate. I made a call to my boss. A little while later I was in my car and following them. My boss said that they would reopen the case and let the surrounding police departments know. I sent him the license plate and he put out a B.O.L.O for the car.I kept following them until the freeway and I lost them. I didn't know which exit they took, or which freeway they took next so the best possible thing I did was go back home. 

Nightfall came and all I could think of was Rachel. I was so close. I had them. I should have done something. But I was so shocked. Me and the whole police department back home thought she disappeared. Dead. She, she looked so different. Her hair all messed up. Her skin paler. Her eyes shallow. Like they are the gateway to nothing. 

It was late. I laid down and struggled to fall asleep.
