Chapter 6 - Birthday surprise

Lucys Pov:

| September 14th | Saturday |

After mine and Corys conversation on Monday, I tried to completely avoid her.

And I have to say..It's really hard because she's literally everywhere!

Working on our project was difficult on Friday. We haven't talked much and I also didn't stayed over like the last time.

Today is Saturday and I decided to do something really stupid. Corys birthday is today and I'm currently standing in front of her house, thinking about ringing the bell or not.

After a lot of hesitating, I ringed and after a few seconds the door opened.

"H-Hey. What are you doing here?" Cory asked surprised.

"Happy birthday?" I said with a nervous smile.

"Thank you." she replied with a smile

"Do you um..wanna come in?" she asked shyly.

"Um..I don't know." I mumbled while looking down.

"Come on. You don't have to stay long." she said and I looked up to her.

"Your whole family is here and I don't want to bother." I told her and she snorted.

"You won't bother us." she said with a smile.

"For me?" She asked and I sighed.

"Okay." I whispered with a smile.

She smiled too and then hold her hand out for me to take. I hesitated at first but then took her hand.

Her hand is really soft and fits perfectly in mine..

She lead me inside the living room and everyone immediately looked at us.

Her moms then walked over to us and Skylar said, "Oh Hello Lucy."

"Um..Hey." I said awkwardly.

Noelle was about to say something but she and her wife got called over. They gave me a small smile and then walked away.

"So..you didn't answered my question earlier." Cory said and I turned to her.

"I came here because it's your birthday." I started and looked down."And because I'm sorry for ignoring you the past few days." I continued and slowly looked back up.

"I- I was a total duche and not fair to you. You and your moms were so nice to me..and I was the completely opposite." I said and she squeezed my hand.

"It's okay." Cory reassured me but I shook my head.

"No it's not. You didn't deserved that." I told her and she smiled.

"Well..you're here. And that's the only thing that matters for me right now." she said and I smiled a bit.

"Who thought that Lucy Grayson has a soft spot." she teased me and I playfully pushed her.

"Shut up." I said with a smile.

Cory wrapped her arms around my waist so I couldn't move away and I placed my hands on her chest.

"So..how is it to be 18?" I asked her and she shrugged.

"It's just another birthday." she replied and I pouted.

"But it's your 18th birthday. You're an adult now." I said and Cory leaned a bit forth.

"Well..since you're here, it won't be so boring." she said with a smirk which made me blush a bit.

Then someone suddenly cleared their throat and Cory and I turned our heads to them.

"Oh um..Hey aunt Lizzie. "Cory said awkwardly and slowly let go of me.

"Lizzie this is Lucy. A friend of mine." she added and Lizzie gave me a smile.

"Nice to meet you." She said and we shook hands.

"Nice to meet you too." I replied with a smile.

"So..I'll talk to your moms again."Lizzie said after a few seconds of awkward silence and then walked away.

"So..friends huh?" I asked with a grin.

"Um..sorry it's just-"

"Friends. We're friends." I cut her off and she smiled.

A friend..

"So..should I introduce you to some?" She asked and I slowly nodded.

She then took my hand, which made me smile and we then walked to two men.

"Hey guys." Cory said and the men smiled at us.

"Hey Cory and.." a man said.

"Lucy." I told him with a small smile.

"Lucy. This are my uncles Jackson and Nate. "Cory said and we shook hands.

"I didn't know you have a girlfriend Cory?" Jackson said and we looked at each other and blushed.

"She um..she's not my girlfriend." Cory said and he chuckled.

"Oh um..ups. I just thought because earlier.." he said and Nate laughed.

"Well..I still ship you. Lory." Jackson said and then walked away with Nate.

"Your family is.."

"Weird? I know." she finished my sentence and I laughed.

"But I love them. They're the best family you can wish for." she said and I looked down.

"What's wrong?" she asked and grabbed my hand.

"It's..It's just you have this amazing family..and I have nothing like that." I mumbled.

"What do you mean? I bet you have a amazing family too." Cory said and I looked back up to her with tears in my eyes.

I rushed upstairs in her room but I could hear her following me.

I'm back!
