It was an early morning at the hospital, a bit too early for random people rampaging the emergency room. "You're here early," Thannam said when she saw Win walked into the hospital an hour early before his shift.
"I just had a few cases I wanted to review," Win answered while he drank the coffee in his hands.
"Sure sure, a few cases," Thannam smirked.
"What's with that face?"
"What face?"
"The face you're making right now!"
"I am not making any faces."
"Yes, you are!"
"No, I'm not!"
"Ok, you know what? I'm gonna leave," Win gave up. He took a left turn to the patients' wings until he was stopped by Thannam's voice from behind.
"Please send my regards to Mr. Few Cases!" Thannam teased, knowing that Win was going to check on Bright. Win just sighed and continued walking.
Win knocked on the door a few times before going in. Bright was listening to music while sketching something on a book. He quickly shoved it under his pillow when he saw Win come in.
"Sorry if I interrupted you in the middle of whatever you were doing," Win said.
"It's nothing. Did you go home well last night?" Bright asked.
"Me? Uh yes- yes! Tor drove me home," Win answered while starting to regret why he even decided to come check on Bright. He doesn't even know what to say!
"That's good," Bright nodded.
A good minute of awkward silence passed through the both of them until a nurse came into the room. "Dr. Metawin, I didn't expect you to be here. You're not his attending physician, right?" the nurse asked.
"Uh no, he's just a... a friend of mine," Win answered.
"Oh! Well, Mr. Vachirawit's recovery is faster than expected. He should be able to be discharged by tomorrow evening," the nurse said.
"That fast?" Bright reacted, slightly sounding like he'd rather stay at the hospital.
"Well, appendectomy surgery isn't a very complicated surgery and your vitals significantly improved overnight. I'll check on you again later," the nurse checked the IV pipe and left the room.
"That's good news," Win broke the silence.
"Yeah... whatever," Bright mumbled.
"Okay, I should go," Win was about to leave but Bright spoke up.
"Thank you... for saving me," Bright said.
"It's fine. You would've done the same for me," Win stopped and looked at Bright's poker face, "you would, right? You wouldn't leave me to die!"
"Well, I am not a creep so I don't know the passcode into your house. You know it's not too late to tell me," Bright teased.
"Why would you want to know my passcode?"
"You know mine, why can't I know yours?"
"Change yours then!"
"Seriously?"
"Are you kidding?"
"Nope, I'm Bright Vachiratwit and I've clarified that to you a couple of times," Bright chuckled at how cute Win was reacting.
"Just forget that I ever stopped by," Win quickly left the room before his whole face would heat up like a tomato.
"Cute," Bright mumbled to himself.

It was already 9 at night. Win was sitting on one of the benches to rest after a long day. He then saw two doctors walking towards his direction. They were talking about something and shaking their heads as if something had gone wrong.
"N'Win!" one of them greeted. Win then quickly recognized him as one of the senior residents from the general surgery department.
"P'... hello krub," Win greeted back awkwardly. He wasn't able to remember the name of the doctor.
"How's everything?" the doctor asked.
"Everything's okay, just a bit tired from a long day," Win answered.
"We're on our way to get beheaded by Dr. Thitipoom," the doctor let out a sigh.
"What's wrong?"
"An appendectomy patient coded earlier. His vitals were improving at first but we didn't notice he had an allergy to one of the medications. It was too late when he tried to resuscitate him," the doctor explained.
Without a second thought, Win rushed to the patient wing where Bright was located. He didn't know whether his heart was racing because he was running or he was worried to death. When he got to Bright's room, there was no one. There were just an empty bed and a slight red stain on the pillow. Win's legs wanted to give up to the point he might actually collapse. He started shaking so badly that he just stood in front of the room silently.
"What are you doing here?" a voice asked. When Win turned around, the person in front of him was Bright Vachirawit. Win's legs couldn't take it more as he dropped to the floor instantly. His face was as pale as a ghost. He didn't know if he'd seen a ghost or just became one.
"Dr. Metawin, are you okay?" the nurse quickly ran to Win's side and helped him stand up.
"He... he... he... I thought he died," Win spoke with a trembling voice.
"You mean Mr. Vachirawit?" the nurse chuckled, "You must be mistaken with another patient. There is another appendectomy patient who passed away earlier today. Mr. Vachirawit was just out of his room for MRI scanning."
"The... the blood on his pillow?" Win asked.
"I spilled ketchup, ai kwai," Bright rolled her eyes.
[A/N: ai kwai literally translates into buffalo but it's a slang for swearing]
The nurse couldn't help up herself and burst out laughing. She kept holding on her stomach and laughed like there was no tomorrow. She kept looking at Bright and Win's faces one by one and smirked. "Please excuse me na, I have more patients to take care of," she nodded and left.
"You were worried?" Bright asked, with a slight smile.
"NO!" Win immediately denied.
"Then why did you fall on the floor when you see me?"
"Because I thought I saw a ghost!"
"Do I look l like a ghost to you?"
"If you think I died and randomly show up, wouldn't you be scared too?!"
"Fine, whatever."
"Why did they need another MRI?"
"To make sure I'm okay and healthy."
Wow, this guy must be pretty rich to take MRI whenever he wants. People have to be in line to take an MRI and he simply cut the line just to be sure!
"I- I should go," Win quickly ran away as his face was starting to heat up. Every time he talks to Bright, he always embarrasses himself and gets into this kind of situation. He decided to just avoid Bright as much as possible.
