Bright was lying on his bed while listening to music. All his life, he was either training or sleeping. He never had a time like this to just listen to music and stare at the ceiling. He never wanted to be a football player. He felt like he was never himself when he was playing. He was barely hanging on. The only thing that kept him sane was his mother. However, his mother passed away two years ago. Ever since then, everything in life started to go wrong.

[Flashback]

The football field was filled with loud audiences cheering for the players. Bright makes a goal 5 seconds before the game ended. The whole crowd went crazy yelling random things! Bangkok F.C. has won with 4-3!

Bright's teammates came to hug him and even lifted him to celebrate. "Ai Bright, I am pretty sure your name's gonna be trending again tonight," Tor patted his back. Bright just nodded with a slight smile.

They all walked towards the coach who had a long face. The whole team confusingly waited for the coach to speak. "Bright, can we talk somewhere privately?" he asked. Bright nodded.

They walked into the locker room. The coach let out a sigh and placed his hands on Bright's shoulders, "I am sorry, son. I just got a call from your father. Your mother got into a car accident and she's in surgery right now."

Bright just froze and couldn't utter a single word. "Cmon son, I'll drive you there."

By the time Bright and the coach arrived at the hospital, the surgery was already done. The surgeon came out of the OR with the same exact face the coach had. Bright felt like it was the end for him. He clenched his fist and held his breath.

"I am so sorry, we did our best. We were able to resuscitate her but her brain is showing no activity. She's brain dead. I've ordered EGG and SSEP tests to confirm it. Please be prepared. She's an organ donor so we'll be operating on her once the results are out. Once again, I am terribly sorry for your loss sir,"  the surgeon bowed.

The test results all came back indicating that his mother was brain dead. Bright stood in front of the surgeon and didn't move a single inch even after the surgery ended. A team of doctors rushed into the OR, waiting for the organs. One of the team members, a young medical student glanced over Bright but quickly looked away.

"P', is it even okay to just like take the organs like that? How about their family? They seem like they haven't come to terms with the patient's death. It's not fair for them. I feel like they need more time to process all this," the medical student whispered.

"Ai Win, are you stupid? We can only take organs if they are healthy and viable. For a lot of organ transplants, we get it from brain dead patients," the senior answered. The young medical student just nodded to what his senior said and followed them into the OR.

[Flashback end]

*****

From now on, I will be adding these short flashback chapters where Bright and Win probably crossed paths. The characters in this story will not find out that they've met like this. I just wrote these chapters because.... they were fated long before they met each other officially.

I can't call this a double update because this chapter is extremely short but I hope you guys enjoyed it!!

Please stay safe and healthy xxx
