Chapter 8

It would be a lie if Bright said he didn't feel like his heart was going to jump out of his chest when he kissed Win. He kept placing his hands on his chest to check his heartbeat. As he entered the elevator, he quickly pressed the floor number so that Win wouldn't catch up with him.

He put in the passcode and entered his own apartment. Finally when he thought he could breathe, he found Thannam eating watermelon on the couch. "Big sis?" he exclaimed.

"Little bro, you're finally home," she spoke while chewing on watermelon. She grabbed the TV remote with her feet and changed channels with her toes.

"Ew, you're always so dirty!!" Bright rolled his eyes and grabbed the remote away from her.

"Why are you on edge today? Your big sis finally visited you."

"N-nothing."

"Do you know it's so hard to keep a secret that we're siblings? If they knew, all the girls in the hospital will hunt me down. I took a cover as your hardcore fan before anyone can question. I haven't even told my best friend yet."

"You mean Win Metawin?"

"Yeah, why? Does it matter?" Thannam asked with an obvious smirk on her face.

"Well, I kissed him."

"Tsk, I knew- wait! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! That fast?"

"What do you mean you knew it before?"

"I mean it was so obvious that N'Win kind of likes you-"

"He does?"

"I mean I think so... I didn't know you like him too! I thought you were straight, dude. I almost felt sorry for him. Anyway, TELL ME THE WHOLE STORY RIGHT NOW!"

Bright then told the whole story of how they met. Thannam quietly listened with her eyes were filled with hearts. Although Bright and Thannam were just half-siblings, they were pretty close since they were young. Thannam was an illegitimate child from Bright's father before he married Bright's mother. After Thannam's mother died, Bright's father took her in. Bright never reacted violently, he always wanted an older sibling. 

"That is so adorable, my brother. I think I've got butterflies in my stomach. I can guarantee you. I know Win Metawin. He definitely cares about you. I've known him for over 10 years now!"

Bright then turned off the television, hoping to learn more about Win from his sister. He then asked, "How did you know him?" 

"I knew him since he was in high school! He was always very interested in med school that he would take college-level classes like Biology and stuff. I was a teaching assistant for one class and someone he became a junior at my faculty, then my junior at the very same hospital." 

"Did he ever dated?" 

"Not even once the whole I knew him. He always works very hard. But first, let's talk about you. You told me the whole story about what happened but never told me why you kissed him!" 

"I don't know... after I left the football team, I thought I was free. I thought I could finally do whatever I want. Father doesn't want to do anything with me anymore. Though I was free, I felt like the whole world was pointing fingers at me for my substance abuse. And then there's him, showing up at my front door, telling me that he wants to serve justice for me. I don't know sis, after that we keep crossing paths. He saved my life too! He keeps turning up in my life and he makes me want to do things. He makes me feel things. Then after Tor said that his feelings are still valid for him, I just suddenly felt like I didn't want to lose him. I felt like I had to fight for it. And then, in the car, he was so close to me. My heart was beating and then when he tried to wake me up, I could hear him speaking so close to me. I didn't even know what took over me but I wanted to kiss him. So I don't know why I kissed him! I just did." 

"You are in love with him. That's the answer, Bright. Everything you just said is how someone who's in love would feel for their significant other," Thannam smiled.

"I am scared. I'm scared of what he would think."

"You think he is not into guys?"

"I honestly don't know."

"It's not a matter of what gender he likes or not. What matters is if he likes you or not. Do you understand?"

"But does he like me?"

"He cares about you. I haven't seen him like that with anyone. But he might also be confused. Just give it time. Don't stress. The more you think, the more complicated things get. What you need is to just talk to him-"

"You mean confess?" Bright's eyes went wide. 

"No idiot! I mean spend time with him. Get to know him and time will give you an answer. Win is a very good person and you are also a great person. If you guys are fated to love each other, you will. Trust me," Thannam then slowly brushed Bright's hair.

Hey guys! To be honest, Thannam's character wasn't written to be Bright's sister but I really like her. I felt like it would be better to use her as a bridge to bring Bright and Win together rather than using Tor. I don't want to complicate things! 

I've been a bit busy with my online class and couldn't update quicker! I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter though ♥︎ 

When I first wrote this story, I didn't really plan how long I want it to be. Do you guys prefer if I add more drama between the two or make it shorter with more sweet moments?
