Chapter 10

Although Win agreed to go on a dinner date, he didn't know what time. He couldn't ask because he doesn't have Bright's phone number either. He was sitting on one of the desks in the on-call room when his phone's notification sound chimed.

Unknown number: I'll pick you up at 7 pm

Win: who are you?

Unknown number: Who can I be? Is anyone else taking you out for dinner?

Win shook his head and decided not to reply. It was 6:40 already so he had 20 minutes left to prepare. But his phone kept ringing from consecutive messages.

Unknown number: why didn't you answer?

Unknown number: did someone ask you out?

Unknown number: who?

Unknown number: tor?

Unknown number: answer me

Unknown number: hello? hello?

Unknown number: are you still there?

One of the residents sharing the on-call room chuckled, "Ai'Win, obsessive lover? I've had one too. You better cut it off before it gets toxic."

Win quickly shut off his phone and smiled, "He's not my lover yet."

[A/N: in Thai language, the word for boyfriend/girlfriend is gender-neutral as "faen"]

"Wow, that's... next level," the resident raised his eyebrows.

Win then went to the locker room and quickly got changed. He then realized he never gave his phone number to Bright. He wondered how Bright got it.

Finally, the dreaded 7 pm arrived.

Unknown number: Hey, I'm at the place I met you earlier.

Win then quickly went to the nurse station only to see Bright already making friends with the nurses. They were all asking for his sign and taking photos with him.

"Ai'Win!" Bright greeted when he saw Win heading to his direction. The nurses all turned to Win with smirking faces. Win felt like he could explode anytime soon.

"Ladies, I think I gotta go now. I'll stop by some other time," Bright winked at them and all the nurses went crazy.

Bright led the way and when Win passed the nurses station, he noticed the nurses giving him a thumbs up. He told himself that he was never talking to those nurses ever again.

"I'll drive you to work in the morning since you left your car here," Bright said as he pressed his car key to open the doors.

"Why would I stay with you till morning?" Win freaked out.

"Ai'kwai. We live on the same floor. So I was just offering you a ride because I have to go somewhere in the morning too," Bright laughed. Win's cheeks immediately flushed red.

Before Win got into the car, he noticed an expensive camera on the passenger seat. Bright quickly grabbed it and moved it to the back seat.

"You like taking photos?" Win asked.

"Just a hobby," Bright answered.

"Why are you taking me out for dinner?" Win asked cautiously.

"You seriously don't know why I'm doing this?"

Win didn't answer.

"I wanted to thank you for saving my life."

"What?" Win's head turned to Bright. It was the answer he was expecting. Suddenly, he was very confused. All this time, he thought this was a date. Then does that mean Bright does not like him that? Wait, then how about the kiss? There were a thousand questions in his head. On the other hand, Bright was having a great time teasing Win.

They arrived at a Thai restaurant, much to Win's surprise. He thought this rich saraleo would take him to some expensive restaurant. But it was a good thing he didn't since Win wasn't a huge fan of western food. Did he know this beforehand?

Win ordered his favorite papaya salad. Bright couldn't help himself but drool over how cute Win was when Win smiled. Win was always happy whenever he's eating his favorite food.

"Do you want me to order more for you?" Bright asked.

"Nah, I'll get a stomachache if I eat too much," Win chuckled.

"Thanks for saving my life. I feel like I haven't thanked you properly," Bright tried to start a serious conversation but Win was so immersed in the papaya salad.

"It's okay. You are treating me this dinner anyway."

"I can take you out more if you want."

"You better save that money to treat your lover later."

"I don't have one."

"For your future one then."

"It won't be a problem if you become my lover then."

"What?"

"Can you be my boyfriend?" Bright then quickly realized what he just said. It wasn't supposed to come out like that. Win was also flabbergasted by what Bright said. He paused from eating his papaya salad and stared at Bright.

[A/N: I changed into 'boyfriend' in this line because it just makes it sound better lol]

"N'Win?!" a voice called out Win across the table. Bright and Win both burned their heads. It was one of Win's senior back in med school.

"P'Mew," Win greeted with both hands. Mew was with a guy next to him. They just finished their dinner. They walked towards Win and Bright's table.

"I haven't seen you since you graduated. I heard you started your residency at Bumrungrad. How's everything?" Mew said.

"Krub P', I just started this year. It's going quite well."

"That's good to hear. Oh right, let me introduce to you. This is my boyfriend, Gulf. Gulf, this is my junior in med school, N'Win."

"Sawadee krub, I'm Gulf Kanawut."

"I'm Win Metawin krub."

"N'Win, aren't you going to introduce your friend to me?" Mew asked.

"Sorry, Win is always quiet. I'm Bright Vachirawit... Win's friend," Bright answered back since Win went silent.

"It was nice meeting you both. N'Win, we should catch up over a cup of coffee someday." Mew said.

"Sure, no problem. It was great seeing you too," Bright nodded.

Win and Bright then waited for Mew and Gulf to leave the shop. Bright quickly grabbed Win's hands, worried that Win might really run away at this rate.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. It just came out," Bright apologized.

"It-It's fine. I think I should leave now."

"Please don't go like that."

"Then what do you want me to do?"

"Give me an answer..."

"Are you crazy? We don't even know each other!" Win snapped back.

"Then do you wanna try? Try to get to know each other... You don't have to like me very much... Just keep your heart open for me..."

I HAD TO! I HAD TO USE THAT LINE!! It's just so sweet. I just can't. I legit screamed when Sarawat spoke those lines to Tine, it was SO real and meaningful.
