This is my moment. The spotlight hitting me just right, exhilaration coursing through me. This is it—what I've worked towards. I begin to sing my heart out, hitting notes I didn't even know I could. I was unstoppable. Just as the song ended, rows and rows of people began to stand, chanting my name.

"Y/n! Y/n!" I couldn't help but get lost in the rhythm of their chants...

"Ms. Y/l/n!" Mrs Hansen yells, snapping me out of my trance.

"Hmm?" was all I could muster, clearly still in a daze. Hmm?? Really y/n? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

"I asked if you could read the next chapter out loud, but clearly you weren't even following," she says, glaring at me. "If you aren't going to pay attention my class, you may as well leave," she continues.

"No, Mrs, I'm sorry. Won't happen again. Promise," I mutter, embarrassed.

"Very well," she says, her eyes roaming around the room, finding another victim to call upon.

"Damn, Y/n. This is like, the fourth time you've zoned out this class. What's on your mind?" my best friend, Mia, asks.

"The auditions for this year's musical. Did you hear it's high school musical this year? Getting to play Gabriella...would be nothing less of a dream."

"I'm sure you'll be fine! Do you know who else is auditioning?"

"Well, the only people I know who will probably audition are Nini and EJ. They were amazing at summer camp. They'll totally get the lead roles. I guess that's why I'm worried."

"Honey, please. You've got this audition in the bag. You're a goddamn queen. Fix your crown," she says, with the utter most confidence in me.

"This is why I love you."

"Oh, y/n. Believe me, I know," she winks, then tunes back into whatever Mrs. Hansen was babbling about. I, on the other hand, am still freaking out about the auditions this afternoon. After all, anything could happen.

**Heyy, loves! I really hope you enjoyed the intro chapter. Please keep in mind that 1) you actually get introduced to Ricky during the next chapter, and 2) it only gets better from here, i promise. This was just to give you guys context to what's going on/what's going to happen.
