"I could feel the tension, we could cut it with a knife. I know it's more than just a friendship, I can hear you think I'm right, yeah."

- Shawn Mendes, Lost In Japan.

...

"How is nobody seeing this?" Ricky scoffs as the song 'Now or Never' --from the third High School Musical film--echoes through the room.

"Well, I'm pretty sure it's just Troy hallucinating, Ricky," I say, taking another bite of ramen. We're currently at the part where Troy injured his head and Gabriella calls out to him in the middle of their last game. We're only at the beginning, and he's already analysing the film.

"It's just unrealistic," he says, shaking his head. He goes to reach for one of my spring rolls, and I swat his hand away.

"Hey! Y/n doesn't share food," I say, quoting the iconic Joey Tribbiani, and he puts his hands up in surrender.

"Alright, alright," he says, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. He's up to something.

I decide to let it go, and watch the film. A few minutes later, Ricky dives for the spring roll, and shoves it in his mouth.

"You, evil spawn," I hiss, putting my take out container down. I then reach for a pillow and throw it at his head. Unfortunately, it missed and bounced off his shoulder instead.

"Wow. I can't believe you'd try to hurt me, y/n. I thought you were better than that," he says, dramatically holding his hand over his heart.

"Yeah, well, you took my food. So, you should be glad you're still alive, Richard Bowen," I say, and he turns to me, grinning.

"You did not just full name me," he smirks, raising an eyebrow.

"Um, yeah. I think I did," I retort, smiling playfully. I regret doing so, because before I know it, he starts swatting me with the pillow I threw at him earlier. I retaliate by grabbing the other pillow, and hitting him with it as hard as I can.

"Pillow fight!" he shouts, and I laugh.

"You're such a child," I chuckle, rolling my eyes. He doesn't reply, but instead, he darts towards me. Me--being my clumsy self--leans back, but since I'm already at the edge of the bed, I start to fall off it. Ricky realizes this, and goes to reach for my hand, attempting to pull me up. I grab his hand, but I end up bringing him down with me. His bed isn't too far off the ground, so the fall doesn't hurt as much.

"Ow," I groan, and Ricky chuckles.

"Stop laughing! Please get off me, Ricky. You're crushing my ribs," I say, and he bursts into laughter. I can't help but join him.

We stay like this for a good couple of minutes until I realize how close we are. He seems to notice too, but he doesn't move. My breath hitches as he brings his gaze to my lips. My mind keeps telling me not to give in, but another part of me is telling me otherwise. Oh, crap. What do I do?
