-The Next Day-Nova woke up with this aching feeling in her chest. Heartbreak, it's never easy, especially if it wasn't done intentionally. Nova wanted nothing more than to run over to the boy's house and tell him how she felt. But she couldn't bring herself out of her bed, let alone out of her own house to get there.
She wanted to write but she left her journal at Gilbert's house. Nova shook her head at herself, 'Of course, you're that stupid to leave something so dear to your heart behind. Like damn Nova, what were you thinking?'
While Nova was sulking in her room. Billy and his friends found the brunette boy on their own. Gilbert was on his way home whenever the boys came up behind him. "Hey Gilbert!" Billy says, Gilbert just keeps walking, trying to ignore them. "How's it going, Blythe?" He finally responds with a sigh, "Fine."
Billy shakes his head, "You gotta come back to school, bud. My ugly ass sister is out of control."
Gilbert closes his eyes and takes a small deep breath then looks over to Billy. "Why do you care?" He says sternly. "We need a guy to show her she's not so smart. Make her stop being such a little bitch to us. She slapped you for God's sake." Gilbert rolls his eyes, "She's smart. Deal with it." He stops and looks at Billy. "And she's not a bitch. It doesn't matter if she hit me or not. It's not that big of a deal." The brown headed boy started to walk away again, trying to get away from the conversation. Billy chuckles, "Why you gotta be like that, bud?" Gilbert looks over to the boy, "If it's such a problem, why don't you bust out a book and take care of it yourself?" He looked ahead when Billy chuckled again. "Yeah, right. Good one, bud."
Gilbert stops the blonde and puts a hand up to stop him. "I'll give you a tip, okay?" Billy looks at him. "Yeah?" Gilbert comes to a complete stop again. "I'm not your bud." The boys laugh at the statement. "Yeah, right."
"And if you hassle Nova again, you'll regret it." He says sternly. Billy smiles and looks at the boys then back to Gilbert. "Yeah, right."
Gilbert nods. "Yeah, right." Rolling eyes, he turned around, almost walking off.
Billy just wouldn't stop his antagonizing. "What's your problem? You got a crush on her or something?" He laughs. Gilbert stops and turns around. "Ask me that again." He says with a sturdy face. " No, seriously. Go ahead." Gilbert says, agging him on. "Why you gotta be like that?" Billy says, becoming nervous. "Ask me!" Gilbert yells with agitation. He turned around again when he didn't ask. The poor boy felt like he was gonna burst from anger. He had never felt this way about a girl to the point where he's basically about to go head to head with her brother.
"Come on, bud. I don't get you. Seriously, what's your problem?"
That was Gilbert's breaking point. He turned around, threw the bag he was carrying into Billy's hands, then threw a punch at his face. The boys that were walking with them, looked at them in utter shock. Billy looked over at Gilbert, tackling him to the ground. Billy, still on top, threw a couple of punches at Gilbert's face. Gilbert finally found the strength to flip them over, where he was on top, he threw a punch at him. He stood up, leaving the blonde on the ground, scared. The brunette grabbed his bag and walked away without saying a word.
Nova finally found the will to get up or more so, her mother came into her room and scolded her for not being dressed for the day. The dirty blonde didn't really know how to feel. She felt sad and had regret in her heart. But on the other hand, she was mad and irritated at the world. She decided that she was going to head over to Gilbert's house. Nova thought to herself, 'Today is the day. Maybe it's best, before he leaves, you tell him how you really feel. You'll regret it, if you don't.'
