Kalli stayed with Chris, waiting for him to come around. Clint had already woken up and Natasha was with him, not that it really matter to Kalli because she knew that would happen anyway. Kalli also got the news of what happened to Agent Phil Coulson. By the Angel, as much Kalli wanted to slap him, she loved him as a brother. Coulson was also apart of her little dysfunctional family and she was torn on the inside when Fury gave the news. It only fuelled her ambition to stop Loki.
Kalli sat at Chris's bedside, staring at the wall above her partner's head. Chris had been strapped down to the bed so he wouldn't attack her. After what Natasha had told her from her unauthorised interrogation with Loki, Natasha had ordered Kalli to take all precautions. To keep Natasha happy, Kalli followed through even though Kalli knew she could just knock Chris down again.
"Kalli," Chris called out to her.
Kalli diverted her gaze to Chris, who looked relieved to see her. "I was starting to think I had killed you," Kalli smirked as she lent back in her chair, the smug look not leaving her face.
Chris chuckled. "After being your partner for six years, you pick up a thing or two."
Kalli smiled. She knew she had him back, but it was gonna be a long road for him to be fully back. "You're gonna be alright," Kalli said as she untied the restraints that were holding Chris down.
Chris rubbed his soar wrists as Kalli sat beside him on the bed, her feet resting on the chair where she had previously been sitting. "Do you know what's it's like to be unmade?" Chris asked before the could think.
Kalli tensed next to him, taking in a sharp breath. "How many times do I need to tell you?" Kalli asked coldly. "Everyone has a chapter they don't read out loud, Chris. The sooner you learn that the better for yourself and everyone else around you."
Chris nodded as Kalli looked down at her lap, tracing over a rune Chris couldn't name with the tip of her finger. "How many agents?" He tried again.
Kalli shook her head. "Don't. Don't do that to yourself, Chris. This is Loki. This is monsters and magic and nothing you've ever trained for."
"Kal," Chris sighed, facing the Shadowhunter next to him, "there's something I need to tell you. Collin Branwell-"
"A fugitive from The Clave of Idris," Kalli cut off. "He's been on the run for almost four years and has stolen two of three Mortal Instruments. His crimes include conspiracy to supply, conspiracy to conspire against The Clave of Idris and now theft." Kalli glanced at Chris, who looked shocked at Kalli's statement. "Don't suppose you know where he is?"
"Manhattan, for sure."
"With Selvig?"
"Yeah, Branwell has The Instruments. He doesn't let the out of his sight."
"Shit," Kalli cursed. She cursed the Angels above her for giving Shadowhunters such power. "He's used a glamour, fools the Mundane eye. What Maria saw was a glamour." Kalli groaned and slammed her head off the metal wall behind her. "I'm so fucking stupid."
Chris nodded, even though he didn't know the full extent of a glamour, he could understand Kalli's frustration. "You didn't know."
"It's basic fucking training," Kalli spat, "I should've seen it a mile off." Kalli sighed and stood up to calm herself down. "We have to stop them."
"Who's we?" Chris questioned as Kalli gathered up all her gear, placing her Shadowhunter weapons in her utility belt a long with her hand gun.
Kalli turned to face Chris with her daggers in hand. "Whoever's left." With that she sheathed her daggers into two leather pockets strapped to her lower back.
Chris nodded. "Well, if I put a knife in Loki's eyesocket, I'd sleep better I suppose."
Kalli chuckled. "Now you sound like you."
Her laughter died down quicker than what Chris was expecting. Sure, Kalli did smile or laugh much, which was something to cherish when it happened, but Chris could always put a smile on her face when no who else was around. This isn't what he was used to as he sensed something wrong. "Hey," he called out softly, making Kalli look at him. "What's wrong?"
Kalli shook her. "It's nothing-"
"Kalli," Chris said, demterimation with underlying caring tone, "you can tell me, I won't judge."
"It's just," Kalli paused. She didn't know how she was supposed to out this into words, however, there was one thing she had leant over the past few hours. You cannot change your past, but you can change your future. "I've been compromised, Chris," Kalli sighed as she lent against the wall behind her. Chris stood and tried to approach her, to try and offer her some comfort, but he stopped in his tracks when Kalli gave him a warningful glare. "I've got red in my ledger and I'd like to wipe it out."
A knock on the door brought Kalli to her senses as she opened the door. There stood Tony with a relieved look of his face. "Thank heavens you're alive," Tony smiled, "I thought you died down there."
"Its gonna take a lot more that the Hulk to kill me off, Stark," Kalli smirked. "What's up?"
"Time to go."
"Go?" Kalli echoed as Chris came to join them. "Go where?"
Tony shook his head. "Steve's gonna explain on the way. Can you fly one of those jets."
"She can't," Chris said, "but I can."
Tony turned his gaze to Kalli, slightly questioning if Chris could be trusted. Kalli nodded, giving Tony the confirmation he needed for Rogers. "You got a suit?" Tony asked.
Chris smirked. "Of course."
"Capsicle's advising for everyone to suit up. See you out there."
"Capsicle?" Chris asked as Tony walked away.
Kalli just smiled a small smile and shook her head, her dark curls bouncing slightly. "Stark means Rogers, now suit up."
The two left the medical room as Kalli pulled on her fingerless, black leather gloves on their way to meet up with Barton, Romanoff and Rogers. They all met up and made their way to one of jet hangers on one of the upper deck of the Helicarrier. Kalli lead the charge, agents moving out of the way of the ambitious Shadowhunter.
Kalli spotted a jet up ahead with the back open. Kalli charged towards, the other four having trouble catching up with her. Natasha kicked herself for letting Kalli lead them through the heavily crowded hanger.
They entered the jet and a younger SHIELD agent sat in the piolet seat. Seeing Kalli, she shrunk slightly under her piercing, icy gaze, however, he decided to try his luck. "You aren't authorised to be here," he said, falling over his words when Kalli's stare hardened.
"Son," Steve sighed, noticing Kalli's facade, "just don't."
"Now," Kalli gave him a sickly sweet smile as she unsheathed one of her daggers, "if you'd like to keep your hands, I suggest you start walking."
The agent scrambled out his seat and ran out the jet as Chris gave her a disapproving look. "Really?"
Kalli looked at him perplexed. "What?"
