Chapter 3
Last night was rather long. Everyone at the dinner table spoke happily and I just zoned out.
Atleast the food was good, besides the frozen peas which I left aside. Mom gave me a death glare and I didn't know what to do. Luckily Maria slid her plate down and nudged me to put my peas onto her plate. I guess she really likes peas or that she's trying to get close to me.
Either way she saved my butt. I'm repaying her by showing her around. We're currently at the mall, by a froyo shop.
"Hmmm let's see what flavor should I pick?Claire what's your favorite flavor."Maria turns around to ask me, I looked up from my phone and smile.
"Blueberry. It's really good. I originally liked bubblegum pop, but since he." I stopped midway, I didn't know what to say so I just looked down at my black high tops. I didn't want to talk about him, not right now.
"Claire, are you okay?" asks Maria as she came closer with worried eyes.
"Yup, just peachy, say let's get our froyo and head back to AJ, he's probably out here searching for us." I offered with a smile.
She got the hint that I didn't want to talk about it and nodded. She ordered a mint crisp sparkle and for AJ a chocolate fudge explosion, I ordered the same original blueberry as I usually do.
We had small girl talk about AJ as we walk to the food court. We spotted him sitting in a corner table with a large box of pizza and a a take away cup of soda, a chicken burger with large fries, a vanilla and strawberry swirl milkshake and lastly a chicken and avo green salad with water that had a lemon slice in it. I guess that's Maria's as none of us eat healthy.
"Hey you two. How was the walk to the froyo store?" He asks as he placed his phone down on the table. Maria kissed his cheek and handed him his froyo cup and spoon.
"It was great. Maria told me a few things about you, interesting things too." He choked on his soda and glanced at the two of us. His eyes narrowed as it darted between Maria and I. We burst out laughing and high fived each other, AJ sigh and chuckled.
"You two will be the death of me someday!" He admits. Maria whacks his hand and scolds him for saying that. I dug into my food as my stomach growled. Once we were done, we kicked back and had small conversation whilst eating our froyo. I guess Maria isn't bad after all.
"We should get back home before mom gets worried."I said interrupting a small fit of laughter between the couple. They both nodded in agreement and threw their empty food boxes in the bin. On my way to the sliding door leaving the mall, I saw someone I saw him.
"No..it can't be?" I muttered. My heart raced super fast my breathing got out of control as I struggled to get air, I clutched onto AJ's arm. He looked at me with a worried expression and turned to where my gaze was fixed. He was there.He came back, how dare he come back after all these years.
