Chapter 21

Zachary's POV

Claire munched on her Mac burger in silence.

The same silence that was killing me.

It was 2:30AM.

Exactly, half an hour since I found her, sitting in dead silence, covered in pain on the park bench.

My heart worriedly cried for her to smile again.

I felt awkward, since I just basically told her, I always loved her.

Things weren't supposed to turn out this way. I was going to tell her when things settled.

But, my sudden outbursts had a different timing.

"Claire?" I called out, deciding to break the silence between us.

She peered from her plate, her deep ocean blue eyes gazing into my eyes.

She stopped her chew midway and raised her eyebrow.

I always found that cute.

"So, you want to talk about what happened? Or should I just drop this topic.?" I ask nervously, hoping she doesn't snap at me.

She stared at her burger for some while, fluttering her eyelashes, holding back tears.

I took her tiny, soft hands in mine as comfort.

"Claire, alot of things have happened between us. I know, you could never forgive me for it, but I'm always here for you. No matter what our situation is, regardless of the pain I've caused."

I stopped midway to find the right words to say, but the look in her eyes caught me off guard.

She was so beautiful, so innocent. Her eyes potrayed her golden soul.

I couldn't help, but to stare at her beauty, her perfection. This wasn't the right time to feel all these emotions, but she leaves me breathless all the time.

"Zachary, if you're saying this, because you once loved me then-"

"No, no. I mean it, as a friend. As the Zachary who was your friend, I guess." I sighed.
