Chapter 22
"Emily?"
"Emily come out dude, this isn't funny."
I could hear her faint giggles, running through the field of sunflowers.
I was searching for someone who wasn't there.
"Claire, c'mon!" I run towards the voice, which faded away each time I thought I got closer.
"There you are!" I yell, with a gasp.
"Claire, help me" my eyes bulged at the sight of Emily standing on a chair, with a rope around her neck.
"Emily, stop! PLEASE STAY!" I yell and try to run, but my legs couldn't move.
"Bye, Claire." A tear slipped down her face and she jumped.
"Emily, no!"
I jolted up, drenched in sweat. My breathing pattern was off, I was gasping for air.
My mind played the whole scene over and over again, my heart felt like it was trying to escape my body.
My lips started trembling and body started shaking, I wanted to cry, but before I could, there was a knock on my door.
I wiped my face with a towel nearby and made myself look human as possible.
"Come in." I call out, I mentally prepare myself for the possible scolding my mom or dad would drop on me.
"Honey, are you okay?" My mom asked softly, to my surprise I expected disappointment to be painted on her face, but she had concern written all over.
"Y-yeah, I'm okay" I stuttered.
She sat on the foot side of my bed and gave me a mug of black coffee. I gladly took it, enjoying the strong smell that hit my nostrils, I took a small sip.
The liquid burning the back of my throat, caffeine shooting my energy levels like an upgrade on a weapon.
I placed the mug on my lap, to soak in the warmth from it.
"So, do you want to tell me what happened yesterday and well, this morning?" She asked, whilst sipping her own cup of coffee.
