Dead and Alive

Chapter Two

“We should head over to my place.” Jackie said after a while. No one argued. I looked at my phones battery, 5%. “Can I charge my phone now?” I ask. Ashley unplugged her phone, “Yeah go ahead.” She said and looked at her phone. “My Tablet. I knew I forgot something.” I said as I plugged my phone in. Jesse pulled something out of his backpack and handed my Tablet to me, “Thought you might have wanted it.” He said. I smiled and put it in my backpack. We arrived at Jackie’s five minutes later, and we studied her house. It’s been torn to shreds, her dogs where gone, and the cars windows were shattered. “Come on Jackie.” I said, and jumped out with Jesse behind me. Jackie followed, “one second.” My dad said, and went to the trunk. Jackie started to walk forward, “Hey wait, we need to wait for dad.” Jesse said. She kept walking forward, I followed her, and I wanted to know why she was so determined to walk into the house. Finally, I heard it. A baby was crying. Jackie picked up her speed and I followed. There was yelling for us to come back, but we went ahead going in. I started at the crib that was thrown apart but there Jackie’s new born baby was lying. There was a growl and I held my gun towards the growl. I saw Shauna, the oldest of Jackie’s kids. Alice was the second youngest. Alice was right behind Shana. “Jackie . . .” I started to say when Rachel came out of nowhere and bit Jackie on the neck. I yelled and shot Rachel, then Shauna, and Rachel. The last girl was already dead on the floor. I turned to Jackie; she was holding a gun to her head. “JACKIE NO!” I yelled, but she pulled the trigger, and she fell to the ground.

                Lee had to knock me out cause of how much I was screaming. When I woke up, I started to panic again. “Kriss, Ashley, Dad!” I started to say their names over and over again. My dad took my hand. “It’s okay.” He said, “We need to go to Neldann’s house!” I said franticly. “And Jackie’s baby what about him?” I asked. “The baby is okay, and we can go to Nelly’s if you want. Where just heading over to the Hardware Store so we’ll stop by, and then go to the Hardware Store.” My dad rambled on, I quietly listening. I was tired, and my head hurt. We arrived and I was the first one out. I waited for my family to come; I didn’t want to go in there alone. 0nce we were all armed and ready, we headed in. I walked into the kitchen with my gun ready, no one was there, glass was shattered everywhere, and I was afraid I would find Marcie dead, only to turn into a Zombie. I walked into the living room, and I saw something cover up. The couches where torn and the TV was shattered. I pulled off the Curtin that was covering up something and saw my Aunt Nelda, Half eaten, I held up my gun and shot her head, just to make sure she would stay dead, “Rest in peace Aunt Nelda.” I said, and moved on. I heard my dad suck in a breath as he passed his sister. “Aron either left by foot, or is dead.”Jesse said, and looked up stairs. Kriss shrugged, “Come on Lee, let’s check the basement. Mindy come with us to. Kendrick, Ashley, and Jesse, stay close to dad. You guys go up stairs, okay?” she said. We all nodded, she was pretty tense, and we all were. My dad went up first, I went second, and Ashley and Jesse followed. I looked in Marcie’s room and looked around. Her bed was stripped, and her dresser was thrown everywhere. I sighed. Then I saw a ring Marcie loved a lot. I grabbed it and studied it. She always had this on. I wonder why she didn’t take it. It had a dragon curled around a small red ball of glass. I smiled, and put it on my finger.

                We didn’t find anything, and we headed for the apartment Aron stayed in. Kriss, Lee, and Mindy joined us. “Here we go.” My dad said, and tried to turn the door handle. It was locked. My dad knocked on it, and a few locks turned, and Aron looked out. “Aron!” we all said, relieved. Jesse Hammon stood right behind him, they were armed with swords, and they looked tired. “Hey, you guys are alive!” Aron laughed, “I’m guessing you guys killed the Zombies in the house.” He said. “What Zombies?” I asked. And I turned around so fast, it made my head spin. Nothing was there, but I was ready to shoot any second. “Well there was some. What happened to Jonny’s family?” he asked. “Nelly’s dead, but I don’t know about the rest of them.” My dad said. Aron nodded, “Come on Jesse, we better go with these guys.” Aron said, and we all went outside. “WHOA! DAD WHEN DID YOU GET THAT!?” Aron yelled. My dad laughed, “Get in, we need to keep moving.” He said, and got in the car.

                We just drove into Salt Lake, when we got a random call on my dad’s phone. “Hello?” My dad answered. “Yes, I guess so . . . Yeah . . . really? . . . okay, be there soon.” My dad hung up his phone, swerved, and headed for Vegas. “Dad careful, you can attract attention if you keep doing stuff like that.” Aron said. “Please, this is the most Silent car you will ever find in the whole world.” My dad laughed. I looked out the window and watched as buildings burned slowly, rubble crumbled under too much weight. “Dad who was that?” I asked. “Someone named Rick.” My dad said. “What?” The whole car asked. “Rick, someone named Rick. Anyway, he told us that they have a base set up, with millions of people inside, they told us to come. Or we might die.” My dad said with a shrug. “But, no way in Hell is he getting my car.” My dad said, and everyone laughed. I looked at my Tablet; it was cracked on the top. I unlocked it and a message popped up, it said:

            DEAR READER THERE HAS BEEN AN OUTBREAK IN YOUR TOWN. PLEASE GET TO THE CLOSEST MILITARY BASE FOUND. THANK YOU. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON HOW THIS OUTBREAK HAPPENED CLICK HERE! THANK YOU. AND GOOD LUCK.

                I looked at the link, and pressed it, I was wondering how the Zombie Apocalypse happened anyway. It pulled up a site. I started to read:

The Zombie Apocalypse

It all started by Ebola. Every Zombie person who was preparing for this knew it would happen. We say you should keep moving tell night fall, then keep moving. Don’t stay in one place for too long. They’ll find you. This article should be able to read with no internet, so I’m glad you’re reading this and you’re not dead. Go to the closest Military base. And don’t get bitten, if you did, then shoot yourself. Don’t make it harder for love one’s. Now, run. And don’t ever look back and just to clarify what happen was Ebola.

I laughed at the ending. I knew it was Ebola. I was happy it was too, I read it out loud to everyone in the car. They were really quite.  But I was happy. I just knew it would happen cause of Ebola; I sighed and rested my head on the seat and drifted off to sleep. My dream was me fighting Zombie’s, with Marcie by my side. I woke up when a gun shot went off.

Dear Marcie,

         

          Jackie is dead. She got bitten so we would have had to shoot her. I wish she didn’t die. But at least we still have my whole family and then some. I can’t wait to find you. Also, I found your ring. I’ll keep it safe.
