I woke up to gun shots. We were driving, but all the windows where opened and transformed into bullet proof glass, I could tell cause they where thick. I got on top where everyone was, except my dad. He had to drive; anyway, everyone had guns pointing at something. I looked out the window, and saw a girl driving a four-Wheeler with four seats toward a boy I had never seen in my life. “Stupid, that’s just going to attract more Zombie’s!” I yelled. Kriss nodded, gun ready. “Yeah, but you won’t believe who it is.” She said. “Who?” I leaned out of the window to see well. “Marcie.” She said. And my eyes widened, “WHAT IS SHE DOING! AFTER EVERYTHING I’VE TOLD HER TO DO, SHE’S RIDING TOWARDS THE ZOMBIES!” I yelled nonsense that I didn’t even understand. Kriss slapped a hand over my mouth. “Shh!” she hissed, “You’ll just make them come!” I watched as she grabbed the boy by the arm, lift him up onto the four-wheeler, and ramp over the Zombies. She headed right for the heart of the city. I watched as she disappeared and I felt my knees go numb. I took a deep breath, and sighed. “Kendrick come on, we’re almost to the Military base and dad wants us all seated.” Ashley said. I didn’t realize that Kriss left my side, and was heading towards a seat. I jumped down, and sat down heavily with a grunt.  I watched as the Soldier’s shot the Zombies, falling one by one. We drove right into the open gates, and down a path.

My dad stopped by some other cars, and turned off the car. The only sound it made was a THUNK and it turned off. I surprised all of us and we looked at dad, “It’s the only sound it makes.” My dad shrugged, and got out. Everyone followed him. A guy came up to us and seemed to recognize Lee, “Soldier Barlow! I thought the Texas Soldiers where all dead?” said the guy. “Um, I got out alive cause I was home. My child wasn’t so lucky.” Lee said with a frown. “Aw well, can’t have Kits running around anyway, too much work.” The guy said. “I’m sorry, do we know you?” I asked. The guy turned to me and looked me up and down. “How old are you?” he asked. “I asked you a question first.” I said with a huff. He smirked. “Bob. Soldier Bob. That’s what you can call me. Now runt, how old are you?” he asked annoyed. I hesitated. Bob? Like, from the Walking Dead? I shook my head and then looked at him. “16. 17 in July.” I said with a sigh.  He nodded, “Sounds like a good Soldier.” He said. My dad laughed, “You think I’m going to let my boy fight those Zombies?” he laughed again, “NO WAY IN HELL AM I LETTING ANY OF MY FAMILY FIGHT!” my dad yelled, heads turned to us, I didn’t care, I loved my dad too much. I smiled, “I don’t want to fight anyway.” I said. I knew I was going to regret what I said. Bob showed no emotion, but hid ears colored a bit. “I-I didn’t mean-“my dad interrupted him, “NO!” he yelled. “Um, dad. Calm down.” Kriss said, and looked at Bob. “Please, just show us where we will be staying.” Mindy said, putting a hand on my dad, who was red face from yelling. Bob just nodded, and turned around, “Soldier Dutson come here!” he yelled, and waved a hand.  A young Soldier about 15 ran over to us. “Yes, sir?” he said, examining us. My dad’s eyes where huge as he watched the kid. “Take them to a living space.” Bob said. Soldier Dutson leaned in closer to Bob, “And what about him?” he pointed at my dad, “Want me to put him in the Mental Hospital?” he whispered, but not quite enough. My dad exploded, jumping at the Soldier Dutson. It took Lee and Jesse to get him to let go. I was trying not to laugh; Soldier Dutson screamed like a little girl and fell down with a loud Humph. Ashley was doing the same thing. Best entertainment we have had all day. Bob glared at us, “You guys are crazy!” he yelled, “Well we did just escape 500 Zombies.” I shot back with a smirk. He glared at me, and turned around. “Go and get the room ready, I’ll get them set up.” Bob growled, and turned to us. “Follow me.” He grumped, and started to walk away. Gun shots went off again and I looked over at the gates. Soldiers where inside the barriers, shooting the Zombies. I watched as a Soldier was grabbed and got bitten in the arm, he pointed the gun to his head. The body fell to the ground. Dead. I hurried off, wanting to be as far away from the gate as possible. We walked into a building, family’s everywhere. They were standing by a door, one door opened and a family walked in. everyone in there looked like everyone went through hell and back.
