I stood there with my sword in one hand, my gun in the other. I shot one Zombie and it fell more came and came. . . “KENDRICK!” Marcie yelled, “What!” I growled “What’s your mind wonder into this time?” she asked with a laugh. I give her a smirk, “Everything.” I answered. She shook her head and continued with her essay. I sat there and watch Michael play my tablet, “Marcie.”
“Yeah?”
“Do you think the Zombie Apocalypse will happen?” I asked. She stopped typing and looked at me, “Yes and No.” Marcie answers and goes back to typing. “Why?” I ask confused by her Answer. “Well, I just don’t think it will happen, I mean, it’s not really possible. But also yes, because I believe there will be a sickness that spreads and kills everyone. And that the dead will get up and walk the earth.” She answers. Still confused I hear my dad pull up to take me home. “Aww already?” she asks and I laughed, “See you tomorrow.” She calls and I close the door to my dad’s car door. I never thought I wouldn’t ever see her again.
I woke up the next morning, everything seemed quite. I then relised the power was off, and that my dad wasn’t singing his song when he gets up. I walked out and almost yelled. There outside our door was the most horrible thing I’ve ever seen. “Kendrick!” Jesse hissed down the hall. I walked into the room he was in, with my dad and Ashley. “What’s going on?” I asked terrified. “Well you know that Zombie stuff you keep telling us about, well turns out its happening.” My dad answers. “The Zombie Apocalypse?” I ask in amazement and excitement. “I can’t believe that it’s really happening.” Looking out the window. “Can they get in?” I asked with excitment yet worry, “No they can’t, But what we need to do is get into the shop,Then we can work on from there.” My dad says, and stands up.
I nod and head for the door, my dad yanks me back, "You're not prepared idiot!" my dad shoved a gun into my hands. I smiled and gripped it tight. My dad handed two other guns to Ashley and Jesse. “Stay Close.” He sighed, and opened the door. Nothing is around and rielf ran through me and we ran across to the Shop and locked the doors. “Marcie. . .” I whispered, remembering my cousin. “Dad, what about our other Family?” I asked. My dad got a grim look on his face, “I don’t know.”He turned to look at what he had to work with. “Well from watching ‘The Walking Dead’ the first thing to do is move out, go find help.” Ashley said, looking at her phone. “Is everything dead?” she sighs trying to get a signal. Jesse sighed, “Come on, let’s at least go look for Jackie. Make sure she’s okay.” He walked to the door. “Wait.” My dad held a hand out, “Let’s stay here for tonight, then we’ll move tomorrow and find Jackie” Jesse shook his head. “Dad-“ “YES! A BAR!” Ashley yelled happily. “Call Jackie.” Jesse said, “No, call Aunt Nelda.” I spoke up. Ashley glared at us, “I’m not the only one with a phone here.” She said. And put the phone to her ear. I took my phone out of my pocket quickly and punched in Aunt Nelda’s phone number. “Please, pick up.” I whispered. “I’m sorry, the person you’re trying to call-“I hung up the phone. I wanted to cry, and scream. She’s dead, I thought. “Jackie? Are you okay!?” Jesse said into the phone. “Awesome! Okay where in the Shop. Just knock a difficult way and we’ll let you in.” he said. “What . . . oh no” he said after a minute. That made everyone look at him. “Okay see you soon.” And he hung up the phone. “What?” I asked seeing his sad face. “Nothing, come on let's help dad.” He said and walked over to where our dad was. I watched Ashley, Jesse, and my dad talk about whatever made Jesse sad. I knew I was being left out, again.
I was sitting on a chair when a frantic knock came to the door. Jesse rushed forward to answer the door, he opened it slightly and opened the door all the way and Jackie came in she was out of breath, tears where on her face. “Are you okay?” I asked walking to her. She nodded, “There dead Kendrick, every single one.” She mumbled. “The fever happened, and I thought it would go away . . . it didn’t Kendrick, it didn’t.” she repeated over and over. “Jackie, hey, stay with us. Hey, Jackie?” Jesse started to say, “I’m fine. Really, just hungry.” She said. My dad pulled out some cookies and handed them to her. She started to eat them like crazy, and looked around. “Are you okay?” my dad asked. “Did you get bit?” Ashley added. Jackie shook her head. “No,. And yes I’m okay . . . sort of.” She said and started to devour the rest of the cookies. I nodded; there was a bang on the door. Everyone jumped, and turned to the door. “Jesse did you forget to lock the door?” Ashley asked.
“Um . . .” we all saw the door open and my dad’s gun was up and ready before any of us knew what was happening. “Oh, my, gosh.” I whispered as Samantha walked in. our cousin, the one I would have the most fun with. My heart shattered as my dad shot her. She fell and I held back a scream. “We need to move. Keep in one place every three hours.” My dad said and started to pack up our stuff. “Okay, let’s go to the house and get some food hopefully there is no Zombie’s in the house.” My dad said, and headed to the door. I tried to ignore Samantha lying dead on the floor, it didn’t work. I cast a glace over to the body, and looked away. This is no time to cry.
I walked out with my dad and family behind me. We have our guns held high as we hurried the few feet dash to the house. Jesse opened the door and glanced in, “We’re good.” He said and we pilled in. Me and Ashley did a quick sweep of the house before we were positive that we were safe. My dad was already throwing food into a suit case. “Wait dad, we shouldn’t do that.” Ashley said walking over to him. “Why not? Where taking the car.” He said. “Also a bad idea.” Jesse said. My dad laughed. “Go pack your things so we can leave.” My dad said and started to pack some more food. I headed down to my room without hesitation and looked at my charger. No power. Oh well, I grabbed it and shoved it in my backpack anyway. I saw the book confessions and put it in my backpack also. I looked around; I saw my comfy blanket and put it in my backpack to. I have a big backpack, I thought. “Come on Ken!” Jesse called. I grabbed some clothes and shoved them in the backpack and ran out. “Sorry. Let’s go” I said. My dad headed for the back door,
“Follow me.” He said, and he opened the door. We all looked out. Deserted. My dad walked out carefully, then car wheels screeched and there Crystal, Mindy, and Lee where in a car. Lee jumped out with Mindy behind him. “Well you guys must know what’s happening then.” He said eyeing our guns. “That car will just attract more of them . . ." my dad growled. Mindy turned off the car, and the three followed us. “What about Aron?” I asked. “We’ll find him.” Kriss said and we all followed our dad. “May I present, my most beautiful creation, the car that drives silently.” He said, and pulled off a white cloth over the most amazing car. White with black strikes all over the car. “Four seats? That’s awesome!” Jesse said. “But there’s-“my dad started laughing, “Don’t worry there’s enough seats for three dozen people.” He said, and he pressed a button on a chain of keys. Like Transformers the car grew more seats, which folded up on top of the car, making it look like a Limo on top of another Limo. We all start laughing. “Get in. we have Zombies to kill.” My dad said.
Dear Marcie,
We’ll find you. Don’t worry we’ll get through this. Even if it means I have to die.
Kendrick.
