"We all were 'round him. Karen an' David are gonna be seperated till they feel better." Daryl tells Carol.
"You're right." She sighs. "You okay?"
"Mhmm. Got te' be." He walks away.
"Are you okay?" She questions me, we may not always see eye to eye but we both show we care at the right times.
"Honestly, I'm shit." I answer, she sighs again. "I had to kill Jamie and my dad, my own family. I know shit happened but at the end of the day they were still my brother and dad." I feel a tear find its way down my cheek.
"I spoke to Jamie the other day."
"You did?"
"Yeah." She looked uncomfortable for a moment before continuing. "He asked me about me and Daryl, then told me he'd seen the way I looked at Daryl. I know Daryl likes you, so I asked about you and Daryl, how it all started. So he told me it all, how both Daryl and Merle were always protective of you. How they treated you differently to others." I smile. "I knew they were protective of you and I knew Daryl treated you different but Merle? I thought he treated everyone except Daryl the same, like shit. Jamie said Merle always saw you as his and Daryl's best friend even if they refused to admit it."
"To be honest, I never really saw how they treated me until I saw how they treated others in camp. It'd been a long time since I saw them and it was always just us three back in the day, wasn't many people around us back then."
"Hearing that stuff from your brother, it made me happy knowing that stuff still existed with all of this happening. He also told me how proud he was of you." I smile more, it'd been a long time since Jamie said he was proud of me. "Go help Daryl, I'll get Darren and Rachel and make sure they're okay."
"Are you sure?"
"I promise your kids will be fine. Besides Darren is a big boy and I'm sure he doesn't want to watch Rachel constantly at his age."
"Thank you Carol. I appreciate it." I head out to see Tyreese, Daryl, Rick, Sasha, Maggie and Glenn struggling with holding back walkers from breaking down the fence, I quickly run over to help them. "What happened?" I yell out wanting an answer.
"They heard the noise." Maggie answers me.
"Shit." I stab a few walkers, I see Sasha point at some rats on the ground.
"Are you seeing this? Is someone feeding these things?" Sasha speaks as the others look to where she is pointing.
"Heads up!" Daryl yells as he pushes some of the fence back, I quickly join him.
"This part of the fence, now!" Maggie yells, the others help her.
"Daryl, this isn't going to work." I whisper to him as we struggle to kill walkers.
"We gotta keep tryin'." He whispers back.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Glenn shouts, we all back up before running at the fence hoping to push some walkers back. "It's gonna give. It's gonna give."
"Everybody back! Come back now." Daryl orders, we do as he says.
"The fence keeps bending in like that, those walkers are coming over it." Sasha panics, I nod in agreement.
"Daryl get the truck. I know what to do." Rick says, Daryl nods and heads for the truck. Me and Maggie run to the entrance to open and close the gate for them, I keep looking over at our building. My mind was too busy focusing on my kids, I never liked leaving them once this apocalypse started.
"Hey." Maggie calls out, I look to her. "Go. Make sure they're okay."
"Carol said she'd watch Rach, Darrens a big boy. He doesn't need me checking on him all the time." I reply.
