-Daryl's POV-

I kill one last walker before running to the road where Megan and Beth were waiting for me, as I get there I see Megan's bag on the floor and a car racing away.

"Megan! Beth!" I yell and run after the car. "Megan! Beth!" With the car now out of sight I decide to just follow the road. Hopefully I'll see them if they run out of gas and when I do. They better be dead or running for their lives.

After a while I end up at some rail tracks, I drop my crossbow and fall to the ground. How could this happen? How could I let this happen? Not only am I alone but I've lost them, how could I be so stupid? I hear foot steps approach, I look and see six guys surrounding me. Well shit. This isn't going to be good.

-Rachel's POV-

It's night time, the others were asleep. Well, Carol isn't. I get up and walk to her.

"Carol?" I whisper so that I wouldn't wake the others.

"You should be asleep." She replies as she gives me a weak smile.

"I tried, I can't sleep."

"Come here." I go and sit by her. "You miss them, don't you?"

"Yeah. I'm scared that they're dead."

"Listen. Your mom, dad and brother aren't dead. You're all fighters, they'll be somewhere. We'll find them and if we don't, they'll find us. What is it your parents always say?"

"Nothing can kill a Dixon other than ourselves." I replay the words that I've heard my mom say a lot, she got it from Uncle Merle. "I miss Sophia too, I liked her." I yawn.

"She liked you too." I put my head against her arm, I could feel my body becoming more tired. "You've been doing really great so far Rach." For once I didn't argue about her calling me Rach, she's the closest thing that I have to a parent currently. And truth be told, I'm glad that she's here. Even if she didn't really like my mom.

The next day Carol was bandaging Tyreese's arm up, I could make out a bit of their conversation that they were having.

"Lizzie's tough." Tyreese says.

"When it comes to people." Carol replies.

"What do you mean?"

"You haven't seen it?" He shakes his head. "How she's confused about them, the walkers. She doesn't see what they are, she think they're just different." They both look at me as if they knew that I was listening, I quickly look away and pretend to be playing with something on the ground.

"Mica still the same?"

"No, she's worse. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body."

"What about Rachel?" I try not to look back at them.

"She's the strongest one of them. She understands it more but she's still scared."

"Definitely her mothers daughter."

We finally walk across some train tracks.

"Did Tom Sawyer have a happy ending? We never got to finish it." Mica asks aloud.

"Well Tom and Huck. They stop injun joe and his partner and wind up getting all his gold." Carol answers.

"So they wind up rich?"

"Mmm-hmm. And the widow Douglas adopts Huck."

"Like you adopted us?"

"Yeah. I'm just like widow Douglas."
