Divergent Her

Chapter 4

Tris POV: 

I wake what must be a couple hours after the fight because the sun is setting. Al, Will and Christina are all in the room by my bed when I wake up. Christina and Will both tell me to get well and stuff and then head out to get dinner and Al is going with them. Will and Christina joke about how i look like I got beaten up. Al tells me "Your face doesn't look that bad" He says and smiles a little "I mean it looks good. It always looks good. I mean-you look brave dauntless." He looks at me and then scratches his head as the silence grow. I really hope he doesn't like me I could like someone so soft and misses their family and cries to sleep at night. 

I know that Peter beat me and I ended up at the infirmary but i will not give him the satisfaction of keeping me there over night.

The next morning Christina is shaking me awake. "Tris get ready we have to go". I start to get ready but i feel sore every where there is no way I will be ready in time. I guess Christina can tell because she says "Try and get ready while I go get us some breakfast." When she returns I am staring at my shoes. I need to bend down to tie them and it will hurt to bend down. Christina bends down and ties my shoes and a surge of gratitude goes through me and I say "Thanks". "Well we would never get there on time if you had to tie them." She answers me.

When we get to the tracks the train comes and Al pulls me in and it hurts some and my cheeks turn a little red because I don't wanna seem weak and incapable to everyone else. I catch Four's eye for a second, but he looks away and leans out the door of the train keeping his feet on the floor of the train. Why did he look at me like that was he mad at me for needing help or was he jealous that Al helped me?

Me and Christina chat about whats beyond the fence and Will chimes in at some points. When we get there we all jump out and I land on my feet and I'm proud of myself. Then I see Robert hope off an Amity truck and he starts coming towards me. I think did Susan transfer too? I know me and Caleb did and now Robert. When he gets to me and hugs me. He looks at me and says "Beatrice what happened to you?" "Just training it's nothing, I'm fine" I say. "Beatrice" a voice behind me says. Of course it's Molly. "Is that your real name Stiff" she asks me. I glance at her and say "What did you think Tris was short for?" "Oh I don't know weakling, Oh wait that doesn't start with Tris my mistake." "There's no need to antagonize her" Robert says. "I'm Robert and you are?" He asks nicely. "I'm someone who doesn't care what you name is. Why don't you get back in your truck. We're not supposed to fraternize with other faction members." "Why don't you get away from us" I snap back at her. "Right I wouldn't wanna get in the way of you and your boyfriend." She smirks as she walks away.

At that I look around quickly to see if anyone else is near and I catch Four looking at me and are eyes meet he looks away and continues talking to the dauntless guard women he was talking to the second before.

Robert gives me a sad look. "They don't seem like nice people." "Some aren't" "You can go home you know. I'm sure abnegation would make an exception for you."  "What makes you think I want to go home." I ask wondering if I appear weak. "You think I can't handle this or something." "It's not that it's you shouldn't have to, You should be happy." "This what I chose, That's it." I see the guards finished examining the truck and I say "Besides Robert the goal of my life isn't just to be happy" "Wouldn't it be easier if it was though" he says.

Four steps over near me and says " I'm worried that you have a knack for making unwise decisions." I cross my arms "It was a 2 minute conversation." "I don't think a smaller time frame makes any less unwise." He furrows his eyebrows and touches the corner of my bruised eye with his fingertips. I don't flinch knowing it's not a tender gesture because how could he like someone like me."You know, if you could just learn to attack first, you might do better." "Attack first?" I say "How will that help?" "You're fast. If you can get in a few good hits before they even know what's going on, you could win" This shocks me "How do you know this". He shrugs and lets his hand fall. "It was hard to watch your fight" he says. Whats that supposed to mean?  He clears his throat "Looks like the next train is here. Time to go Tris."
