Four POV:

I stand up and have the initiates follow me out of the dining hall. I look over at Tris. I am concerned about her because of what happened last night. She seems fine. She's talking to Christina and Will. We keep climbing higher and higher and all I can think about is how how high up we are and my stomach hurts.

I know this place well. I turn around and start walking backwards. I know there is no railing, but I want to keep an eye on the initiates. I look at Drew and he is in the back. I know I did that to him and it's funny that he would attack her 3 against one they must be really scared. "Pick up the pace Drew." Tris looks like she is laughing. I look at her and she has her arm linked with Will's. Oh.

I can't believe I tried to talk to Eric and convince him to care people are attacking each other for her. I know I told Shauna and Zeke that after this we need to talk to Peter, but I honestly don't want to anymore. I know it's the right thing though that way no one else gets hurt. I lead the initiates through a door.

"This is a different kind of simulation known as the fear landscape. It has been disabled for our purposes, so this isn't what it will look like the next time you see it." I explain to them. "Through your simulations, we have stored data about your worst fears. The fear landscapes accesses that data and presents you with a series of virtual obstacles. Some of the obstacles will be fears you previously faced in your simulations. Some may be new fears. The difference is that you are aware, in the fear landscape, that is a simulation, so you will have all your wits about you as you go through it."

That means everyone is going to be divergent so Tris will be able to make it. But, now she won't have an advantage. I continue "The number of fears you have in your landscape varies according to how many you have. I told you before that the third stage of initiation focuses on mental preparation." Saying this to the initiates gets boring every year because I understand it all.

"That is because it requires you to control both your emotions and your body to combine the physical abilities you learned in stage one with the emotional mastery you learned in stage two. Next week you will go through your fear landscape quickly as possible in front of a panel of Dauntless leaders. That will be your final test, which determines your ranking for stage three. Just as stage two of initiation is weighted more heavily than stage one, stage three is weighted heaviest of all. Understood?" They all nod even Drew has the hardest time.

"You can get past each obstacle in one of two ways. Either you find a way to calm down enough that the simulation registers a normal, steady heartbeat, or you find a way to face your fear, which can force the simulation to move on. One way to face a fear of drowning is to swim deeper for an example. So I suggest that you take the next week to consider your fears and devlop strategies to face them."

"That doesn't sound fair." Peter says. "What if one person only has seven fears and someone else has twenty that's not their fault." I laugh at him. "Do you really want to talk about what's fair?" The initiates part so I can walk. "I understand why you're worried Peter. The events of last night certainly proved that you are a miserable coward." Peter stares back at me. "So now we all know that your afraid of a short and skinny girl from Abnegation." And I smile. So, does Christina and Will puts his arm around her. I want to punch him, but I have no right.

All the initiates leave, but I pull Peter into the observation room. Zeke and Shauna are in there waiting for us. "We need to have a chat." I say to him. Zeke lurches and throws Peter into the wall causing him to crack his head. He winces. "Hey there." Zeke says and Shauna moves toward them spinning the knife on her palm.

"What is this?" Peter asks, he doesn't even look a little afraid. Shauna tosses the knife and catches. She holds it to his cheek creating a dimple. "Trying to scare me?" He sneers.

"No." I say "Trying to make a point. Your not the only one with friends who are willing to do some harm." "I don't think initiation instructors are supposed to threaten initiates. Do you?" Peter gives me a look of innocence, but I know it is fake.

"I didn't threaten you. I am not even touching you. And according to the footage of this room that's stored on the control room computers, we're not even in here right now. " Zeke grins because that was his idea. "I'm the one who is threatening you." Shauna says. "One more violent outburst and I'm going to teach you a lesson about justice." She holds the knife against his eyelid. "An eye for an eye. A bruise for a bruise."

"Eric may not care if you after your peers, but we do and there are a lot of Dauntless like us. People who don't think you should lay a hand on your fellow faction members. People who listen to gossip and spread it like a wildfire. It won't take long for us to tell them what kind of worm you are, or for them to make you life very, very difficult. You see, in Dauntless reputations kinda stick." Zeke tells Peter.

"We'll start with your potential employers." Shauna says. "The supervisors in the control room-Zeke can take them. The leader out by the fence- I can take those. Tori know everyone in the pit- Four your friends with Tori right?" "Yes I am." I say and move closer to Peter. "You maybe able to cause pain initiate...but we can cause you lifelong misery."

Shauna takes the knife away from Peter's eye. "Think about it." Peter leaves. I think with Shauna ferocity and Zeke's cheerfulness is just strange enough to be threatening. "You want us to talk to people anyway?" Zeke asks. "Oh yeah," I say "Definitely. Not just about Peter about Drew and Al too." I say "Maybe if her survives initiation. I'll accidentally trip him and he'll fall right into the chasm." Zeke says hopefully.

Hope you enjoyed. I know those scenes were both in Veronica Roth's version and we really close to being completely the same I needed them to happen to be able to do the next chapter. The difference is the scene before the one with Peter was originally Tris's POV, but I changed it to Four's.
