Calla's tree

"Hey Kiddo, you up for some breakfast?" Grady asked when Sophie sat in the kitchen. It felt weird being so dressed up, "No thanks, I don't think I can stomach it." Sophie said, "Did Vertina help you today?" Edaline asked as she conjured up some food for Grady, "Yeah, also some people from the Black Swan are coming over at 1, is that ok? We're gonna be at Calla's tree." Sophie answered realizing she never asked her parents, they both nodded, "I take it that means you had a sleepless night and came up with a plan?" Grady asked, "Yeah, Keefe and I worked it out on the imparter last night, you guys are gonna come to the meeting right?" Sophie asked careful not to expose their late night sleepover, but Grady still mumbled something that Sophie was pretty sure included 'that boy'. "I can't, I have to go to town today, I need to run some errands, one of them includes stocking up on medicine for someone's common injuries." Edaline laughed, easing away some of the bruise like bags under her eyes. "I'll go Sophie, don't worry." Grady said smiling. "Thanks Dad, I got to go, I need to deal with Winnie and Luna before the other get here." Sophie thanked heading outside. "Hey, Foster." Keefe said from the side of the house, "Gah! Keefe! You gave me a heart attack, why're you here so early?" Sophie asked clutching her chest, "SOPHIE DON"T TELL ME THAT BOY IS HERE!" Grady yelled from inside. "Run!" Sophie yelled. "So, why did we run from your dad?" Keefe asked as they reached Calla's tree, "Let's just say he has a bat that he keeps in a case labeled 'That boy remover'." Sophie said, "Wow, ok your dad really hates me." Keefe said, and Sophie could see the hurt in his eyes, "No one could hate you Keefe." Sophie said softly, Keefe's face lit up, "Hm, so you don't hate me Foster?" Keefe said laughing, Sophie rolled her eyes, "Whatever. Since you came early you get to help me deal with the alicorns." Sophie said grabbing Keefe's hand and dragging him over to where the alicorn family was. "GLITTERBUTT!" Keefe exclaimed when he saw Silveny, earning himself a glare from Greyfall, Keefe! Keefe! Sophie!Sophie! Friends! Friends! Silveny transmitted to Sophie making her smile, "She's just as excited to see you." Sophie laughed, petting Silveny and getting trampled by the twin alicorns. She's so adorable Keefe thought looking at Sophie play with the baby alicorns. He looked up to see Silveny looking straight at him, she looked into his eyes just like Fitz and Sophie do when they're doing that congate thing, Keefe's eyes widened Was it possible for an alicorn to read somone's mind? Keefe thought. Keefe! Sophie! Dating! Date! Sophie froze, Me and Keefe aren't dating. Sophie transmitted, Want! Want! Silveny transmitted, No, I like Fitz Sophie transmitted back, of course she didn't like Keefe no way. "Hey Foster? The other are here." Keefe said pulling her out of her thoughts, "Oh crap." Sophie said rushing to feed the glittery horses and grabbing Keefe's hand dragging him to the tree. "Sorry, we were dealing with the alicorns." Sophie apologized, when she looked at her friends they all were staring at her and Keefe's hand, Sophie could feel her face heat up. "Foster here thought I was too slow so she dragged me here." Keefe said jokingly, letting go of her hand to rub it like she hurt him. "Well you are really slow." Sophie retorted going along with Keefe's cover up, but for some reason she felt a little hurt he let go of her hand. But, that would have to wait, "Where's Grady and Mr.Forkle?" Sophie asked, "I'm here." Grady said running over to them, then Mr.Forkle glittered into view, "Sorry I was late. Oh and Happy Birthday Miss Foster, you are 16 now, I believe that is a very important birthday in the human world." Mr.Forkle said, everyone looked at Sophie, "You're sixteen? Congrats!" Biana exclaimed, " I completely forgot." Sophie admitted, elves didn't pay much attention to birthdays thanks to their infinite life spans so she hadn't really had a reason to remember her birthday. "Well, then it's a good thing I reminded you." Mr. Forkle laughed, "Yeah, I guess." Sophie said trying to sound happy but something was bothering her, since when did Mr. Forkle care about birthdays? "Anyway, I didn't come here to talk about birthdays I forgot about. I came here to tell you about a plan. I think it's time we stop playing defense, and attack first." Sophie said turning her attention to the group as Keefe moved to her side, "And we came up with a heck of a plan." he said winking, "Wait, when did you guys have time to figure this out?" Fitz asked his eyes darting back from Sophie to Keefe, "Foster and I worked on it over the imparter last night, also how did you get clearance from Elwin to be out here?" Keefe asked eyes Fitz, "He didn't" Elwin interrupted from the shadows, "Fitz! You can't risk your health for this!" Sophie exclaimed glaring at Fitz, "There was no way I was missing this." Fitz argued, "We could've called you on the imparter so you'd be here virtually!" Linh said rushing over to Fitz, Sophie couldn't help but smile while Tam glared at them and Keefe and Biana tried to keep down their laugh. "Ok, well since Fitz is CLEARLY not better, and wants to risk his life we'll have to take him out of the group, and Grizel, can you make sure Fitz stays in bed?" Sophie asked looking from Fitz to Grizel and finally resting her eyes on Keefe. "Ok, so that means it'll just be Ro, and Dex." Sophie explained, "Easy on the worry there Foster, they can handle ourselves." Keefe said smirking, "Wait, I get to go somewhere? I'm in." Dex said grinning from ear to ear, "Ok, here's the plan. Linh, Tam, Sandor, and I will be a distraction and show up to a meeting we will set up that we'll say is so we can find out Keefe's "legacy", Linh I wanted to put you with Dex and them at first, but they would no somethings up if you and Tam weren't together." Sophie began, Linh nodded, "But, wouldn't they be suspicious if Fitz isn't with you sense you guys are congates?" Tam asked stepping up to Linh's side, "We were playing off the fact they injured him, that's why he was supposed to be with the loser club, Dex, Grady, and Ro are going to sneak into the Neverseen base and get their caches while our team makes a distraction." Keefe explained, "What about Forkle?" Ro asked, "Well, this is supposed to be a move made hastily without the knowledge of the Black Swan so we could find out about Keefe's craziness.Oh, and Keefe you're going with the 'loser club'" Sophie said, "Um, no way. I'm not letting you face them alone." Keefe said shocked Sophie would even consider that, "No, the other team needs you. Plus, your mom expects us to keep you away, and I'm not alone." Sophie said looking straight into Keefe's eyes so he knew she wasn't backing down, "Oh! I love it when blondie gets all protective and stern it's so fun watching them argue knowing Keefe will lose." Ro whisper yelled, "Fine." Keefe said after a few minutes of holding Sophie gaze, "I'm not okay with this! It's to reckless." Grady interrupted completely bursting Sophie's bubble, "Um, Grady? Sophie is choosing to take the safer route, do you really wanna argue?" Alden said from the back, Grady glared at Alden before sighing, "Fine. I suppose we should let you do this." Grady mumbled clearly not happy about it.

Later that night

Sophie cuddled Ella as she laid in the bed, they decided to call the plan Calla's tree, then Sophie came to a realization, suddenly things became super scary, because it wasn't just a plan, it was real and it had real consequences.
