a siren suddenly interrupted the tv show, and us. it sounded like a mix between the amber alert siren and the purge siren. it was practically deafening.
ross flinched and backed off of me and sat up on the couch, completely attentive. i almost wish he would've stayed on top of me.
the president of the united states appeared on the screen and spoke of how we would now be going into nationwide lockdown. he said we can no longer leave our houses for any circumstances for fear of the virus spreading. we could call the government if we needed more food, and they would deliver pre-packaged food if needed, but if we had enough to eat already, we were advised not to call.
the whole announcement was only about a minute long and left me and ross (and i'm sure the rest of america) in awe.
"i can't believe i'm quarantined with a complete stranger." i said, my jaw practically hanging from my face.
"you wouldn't exactly be my first choice either." ross looked at me, then at the tv, and back at me again. by now the ghost show was back on like nothing had ever happened.
"sorry it's not that i don't like you because i definitely do, it's just... i just don't know you." he explained, looking for the right words.
ouch.
i didn't say anything back. i didn't know what to say.
